Established in 2005, Imayam Educational Institutions are managed by the Imayam Trust and are located a few kilometres from the city of Tiruchirappalli. The institute is approved by AICTE and is affiliated with Anna University. There are various colleges founded under Imayam Educational Institutions including Imayam Arts and Science College, Imayam College of Education, Idhayaam College of Education, Imayam College of Engineering (ICE), and Imayam Institute of Agriculture and Technology (IIAT).

In 2006, the Imayam College of Education was established. Imayam Industrial School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology was established in 2006. Imayam College of Education was established in 2007 and is accredited by NCTE, Tamilnadu Teachers Education University and the State Government of Tamilnadu. Imayam College of Engineering was established in 2009. Imayam Institute of Agriculture and Technology was established in 2010. IIAT is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and is the 5th private self-financing college affiliated with TNAU.

Students enrolled in the mechanical engineering course at Imayam Group of Institutions are provided with several laboratories and workshops including CAD/CAM lab, machine shop, dynamics laboratory, thermal laboratory, metrology & measurements laboratory, and mechatronics laboratory.

Imayam Group of Institutions strictly complies with the regulations of the ‘UGC regulations on curbing the issue of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009’. According to the regulations, an anti-ragging committee has been established at Imayam Group of Institutions. This committee has been given the authority to maintain rigorous surveillance throughout the college and hostel grounds around the clock. Any offense including the planning of, or involvement directly or indirectly in, ragging or other similar acts on campus or off campus that violate the UGC regulations is not acceptable at Imayam Group of Institutions. As per the prescribed rules, anyone found guilty of ragging will be expelled from the hostel and/or the college.
