SS Teachers Training Institute for Men is one of the pioneering institutions of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore. The institute was started in the year 1959 in Mysore to inculcate the Gandhian concept of basic education in teachers. It was shifted to Suttur in 2001 to cater to the needs of rural people. Presently, the institute is being run in the second floor of the spacious school building of JSSMVP in Suttur.The Institute, being in Suttur, stands on the banks of the River Kapila. Filled with verdant greenery, the environment surrounding the college is free from pollution. The institute is located at a distance of 25 km away from the Mysore city.The College has excellent infrastructure with well equipped laboratories, which include a computer lab, psychology lab, ET lab and general science lab. There is also a well-stocked library. Basic amenities such as drinking water etc. are provided. The college has adequate human resources and conforms to the norms stipulated by NCTE.The College provides good facilities and ample opportunities for extra and co-curricular activities. Workshops, TLM, retreat programmes and seminars are regularly conducted. Important events are zestfully celebrated. In all, the college provides a great forum for the all round development of trainees.What is unique to the institution is its focus on kindling an interest for social service among the trainees. The institution has been consistently achieving good academic results with several distinctions. Most of the trainees graduated from this institution have secured jobs in private and government institutions.
