Students Activities & Clubs

NCC Club -

The College has a rich unit of NCC (Army) the beginning i.e. its inception in 2009. The NCC has the wing of Infantry, of which is extremely popular in the College. It is from Madras Group ‘A’, 1 Tamilnadu Battalion NCC

Aims of NCC

To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the Country; create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth and finally to provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

Motto

The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”. ‘Unity’ implies our basic oneness, the brotherhood of all the Indian people regardless of their caste, colour or creed. Likewise, ‘Discipline’ is the very bedrock on which any nation is founded.

Infantry (1 Tamilnadu Battalion NCC)

The Infantry Wing has been provided with an office and a store room for the administrative purposes. It is also provided with a suitable Parade ground for the parade to happen. Periodically, some of the Cadets are selected to undergo the adventurous and rigorous military training in attachment with regular Army training Centers, rock climbing, mountaineering camps, trekking camps, army attachment camps, national integration camps etc., The Cadet regularly take part in the Inter-Collegiate NCC competitions. Many of these aim to make it to be officers and soldiers in the Army.

Special Achievement

  • KCG NCC cadet S.Nisanth (III AERO) was selected as one of the 20 best cadets from the 1 TAMILNADU BATTALION unit and participated in the ‘Madras Republic Day Camp (MRDC)’ parade on 26 Jan’13 at Marina Beach in front of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Selvi. J. Jayalalitha and Hon’ble Governor K. Rosaiyah.
  • Arvind Yogesh of ECE final year has cleared the SSB interview and will join the Indian Army as Lieutenant in July 2016.

National Achievement

  • Selva Kumar of Aeronautical final year has represented Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Directorate football team in the NCC National Games 2015 held at New Delhi. He was the Vice Captain of the team.

Inter-College Competitions

  • Ponmani (III ECE) won 1st Prize in Solo Dance competition organized by CATC Camp of 1 TAMILNADU BATTALION NCC at Kendra Vidyalaya, CRPF, Avadi.
  • Nisanth (III AERO) won 2nd Prize in Solo Singing Competition organized by CATC-cum-RDC LAUNCH-1 Camp of 1 TAMILNADU BATTALION NCC at Vel Tech Engineering College, Avadi.
  • KCG NCC company won the first place in NIAP-National Integration Awareness Program held at Tamilnadu Ambedkar Law University.
  • Yuvraj of Aeronautical final year won the Best Camp Senior at Army Attachment Camp held at Secundrabad.
  • Adityan of CSE final year won the Best MC at Army Attachment Camp held at Secundrabad.
  • Prabhu of Aeronautical third year won the firstprize in debate competition held at Tamilnadu Ambedkar Law University.
  • Manoj Kumar of Mechanical final year won the first place in Solo Dance in CATC camp held at Bharath University in July 2015.
  • BackiaGoutham of Mechanical final year won the first place in Extempore in CATCcamp held at Bharath University in July 2015.
  • Joseph George of Mechanical second year won the silver medal in Best Cadet in Inter College NCC Fest held at Tamilnadu Ambedkar Law University.
  • Devputra of EEE third year won the second place in CATCcamp held at Bharath University in July 2015.
  • Bhaskar of Aero third year won the second place in CATC camp held at Bharath University in July 2015.
  • Adityan of CSE final year won the second prize in Special Talent in CATC camp held at Bharath University in July 2015.
  • Prabhu and Samar Vikranth of third year won the second place in Debate in Inter College NCC Fest held at Alpha arts and science college, Porur.

Social Activities

  • Anti-Ragging rally was organized by KCG NCC Company in Karapakkam. The rally was followed by an event where Sylendra Babu IPS ADGP of coastal security group was the chief guest.
  • KCG NCC company conducted Dengue Awareness and Cleaning Campaign in Karapakkam area under the supervision of Sanitary Inspector of Karapakkam on 22nd December 2015.
  • KCG NCC company conducted Campus Cleanup Program to clean the campus ravaged by floods on 23rd December 2015.
  • KCG NCC company planted 300saplings in our college campus on 26th January 2016.

KCG NCC Cadets

Dance Club -

Does your feet  move  to  rhythms? Find your place  in the  Dance Club  to  bring out   the   inner   dancer in  you.  The  training provided by the club will improve  your dancing skills and  also give  the  members to participate in dance competitions.


Quiz Club -

Do you tackle  all the  questions that people shoot at you? The quiz club   caters to   students who      live  by  the      dictum that  little knowledge is dangerous. The club channelizes your desire for knowledge in general, technical, social, economic, cultural and political affairs  which  in turn boosts confidence.


Technical club -

Have you ever wanted to have a robot as your friend? The KCG eYantra Robotics Lab trains students in Embedded  Systems and  Micro-Controller Programming  by engaging the members in a project based learning mode, to help make robots.


NSS Club -

The NSS Unit was started in our college in the year 2004. Since then it has been a vibrant and active unit. National Service Scheme (NSS) of KCG has been rendering yeoman service to the society. NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our university education. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community. It is a student–centered programme in which projects are implemented by the NSS volunteers in the community in close collaboration with the clientele community and thereby it provides vast scope for the students’ interaction with the people.

While interacting with the community the students learn many things which they cannot learn from theory classes. The NSS scheme is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life . NSS volunteers are an asset to the society. Students through the NSS activities are engaged in actual work not only within the university campus but also their services extend to neighboring schools and colleges. The aim of NSS is to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour. The various programmes conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society.

NSS Activity(2016-2017)

1.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NSS Unit and various department of KCG College of Technology conducted the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Programme on 12.07.16 at campus . The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and students & staff actively participated in swacch campus program to clean up the campus premises and surroundings.

2.Blood Donation Camp

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai Organized Blood Donation Camp in association with Y’s Men Club of Mylapore and Lions Club of Golden Bharath on 05.08.2016 in the College Campus. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran , KCG College of Technology. Totally 181 Units of Blood were Collected from the Student and Staff of the College.

3.Vigilance Awareness Week

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai organized Vigilance Awareness Week on 03.11.2016 in the College Campus. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran , KCG College of Technology. The Principal initiated the pledge against the corruption, student and staff members followed the pledge.

4. Independence Day

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology Celebrated Independence Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events were celebrated.

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology Celebrated Republic Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events were celebrated.

6. SPECIAL CAMP

NSS Special Camp was Organized for 07 days from 15.0.17 to 21.03.17 at Perungudi Village Panchayat School. There are 50 NSS Volunteers from college were attended in the Special Camp. In addition to that, 200 students from Perungudi Panchayat schools were helped the volunteers. The following activities were conducted during this Camp.

  • Inauguration Programme by Dr.G.Prabhakaran ,Principal,KC Tech and Head Master Perungudi Panchayat School.
  • Motivation Programme for Students by Mr.A.Balaji and Mr.R.Siva, KCG College of Technology, Chennai-97.
  • NSS Volunteers donated Stationary items to 25 Students of “ Perungudi Panchayat School“
  • Computer awareness training program was arranged by NSS Volunteers. More than 200 school students were benefited by this program.
  • School Campus Cleaning work were done by NSS Volunteers including Temple and Street.
  • Planting Tree samples in Perungudi Panchayat schools.
  • Conducted various sport events for students of Perungudi Panchayat School.
  • Valedictory function was conducted in the last day of the Camp.

NSS Annual Report (2015-2016)

1.International Day of Yoga

NSS and YRC Unit of KCG College of Technology conducted the International Day of Yoga Programme on 21.06.15 at campus in Mother Teresa Block at 6.00 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal. The yoga masters taught various yoga positions to the staffs and students of the college.

2.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NSS Unit and various department of KCG College of Technology conducted the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Programme on 22.06.15 to 26.07.15 at campus . The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and students & staff actively participated in swacch campus program to clean up the campus premises and surroundings.

3.Helmet Awareness Programme

NSS Unit & Youth Red Cross of KCG College of Technology conducted Helmet Awareness on 11.07.2015 in campus Mirza seminar theater started at 10.00 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and chief guest . The chief guest for this programme is Mr.S.Venkatraj , Inspector of Police Traffic, Thoraipakkam , Chennai. Chief Guest talk to advised all of them to follow the traffic rules as well to take safety precautions while driving vehicles, especially two wheelers should wear the helmets while driving.

4.Awareness Programme

NSS and YRC Units of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai Organized the Documentary film about Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was screened at Mirza hall on 24.08.2015.

5.Independence Day

NSS Unit &YRC of KCG College of Technology Celebrated Independence Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events were celebrated.

6.Blood Donation Camp

NSS and YRC Units of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai Organized Blood Donation Camp in association with Y’s Men Club of Mylapore and Lions Club of Golden Bharath on 04.09.2015 in the College Campus. 50 Units of Blood were Collected from the Student and Staff of the College.

7.Youth Awakening Day

NSS Unit & Youth Red Cross of KCG College of Technology conducted Celebration of Birthday of Bharat Ratna Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 15.10.2015 as YOUTH AWAKENING DAY at campus Mirza seminar theater started at 10.45 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal. The chief guest for this programme is Pro.Dr.S.E.Revathi Kirubakaran, Department of English,Govt.Arts College for Men (Autonomous),Nandanam, Chennai.Students listened Chief Guest talks on how the late President inspired the current generation of youngsters as a role model.

8.KCG Relief Camp from 8.12.15 to 12.12.15

Chennai saw its worst ever rainfall in 100 years, the city and its suburbs were pounded with heavy rainfall. 1000’s were stranded and needed help. KCG College of Technology under the guidance of the CEO& Director of KCG College of Technology, a team of KCGians actively involved themselves in the relief activity, The Principal, Vice Principal, HODs, staff and students participated in the process of sourcing, packing and distributing the relief material to the needy.

9.Republic Day

NSS Unit &YRC of KCG College of Technology Celebrated Republic Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events were celebrated.

10.Tree Plantation Programme

Tree plantation programme was conducted by the KCG College of Technology NSS and YRC on 03-03-2016. The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Principal Dr.Sumathi Poobal at 10.00 am. NSS volunteer have planted about 75 sampling trees in our campus.

11.Special Camp Report

NSS Special Camp was Organized for 07 days from 24.03.16 to 30.03.16 at Perungudi Village Panchayat School. There are 50 NSS Volunteers from college were attended in the Special Camp. In addition to that, 200 students from Perungudi Panchayat schools were helped the volunteers. The following activities were conducted during this Camp.

Fashion Club -

The Aero  Modelling club  empowers the  students to design, build  and fly,  aero models like Quadcopter, UAV, MAV, etc.,. The club  members can participate in flying  shows held  at other institutes.


Technical club -

Bored of searching for different Apps from your playstore? Now learn, build and deploy your own App. The Mobile Apps Club makes the members understand the process of app building in a practical way. Besides monitoring by experts, the members are made to work on  real-time projects.


Computer Science Club -

The Internet of Things  club provides the  venue for the  aspiring engineers to get  exposure and experience  in  the   latest  and  futuristic smart  technology.  The members of the  club will be exposed to the  technology by getting periodical technology updates, mentoring by experts and hands on experience.


Sports Club -

Is your heart on the field? KCG Sports Club offers opportunities for learning a new sport, improving existing sport skills, practicing and playing not only for fun  but  also  for competing at various levels. Club  members develop valuable leadership and team skills.


Music Club -

Music  Club  is dedicated to  the promotion of Indian Classical & Western Music, among the student community. This music club also serves as a platform for musicians of all genres and skill levels to showcase their talent at various events.


Photography Club -

The man-made eye to capture the  beauty around, is the  lens of a camera. The Photography Club  helps  the  interested students to improve their  photography skills. The club organizes seminars on photography.  The club members are also encouraged to take  part in contests.


Programming Club -

Do you code your  dream? Programming Club provides resources and knowledge to  help  the  members to  pursue their  interest in Computer  Programming  either  as   a   profession  or   a   hobby. Activities  of  the   club  involve  Web  Development, Open source, Game/App Developments and Programming. The club  motivates its  members to  attend both Intra  and Inter  Programming and Coding Contests.


Rotary Club -

Service  above self   in action! Rotary  club  is a service, leadership and community service  organization for  young men and women between the   ages 18–30.Rotaract focuses on  the development of young adults as leaders in their  communities and workplaces.


Toastmasters -

The objectives of the   Toastmasters club   are   to   improve members’ oral   expression of  thought,  to develop    their    confidence and ability   to   speak in public,  to promote the   habit of  analytical listening, to    assist   each   other through  constructive evaluation, to  develop their     capacity for leadership, to  promote  good  fellowship among    men        and women, to        advance mutual understanding  through    more effective communication,  and  to    foster  and encourage “Better Listening, Thinking and Speaking”.


Fitness Club -

A fit body leads to a fit mind. The Fitness Club offers its members use of the college gym, where students can work out. The club also offers cycling opportunities  and  yoga classes.


Gamers Club -

Dreamt of riding with the wind? The Horse Riding Club trains its members to ride a horse under the supervision of a trainer. It is a great way of becoming physically fit.
