Mahatma Gandhi University admission process is both online and offline. Selection of candidates for MGU admission is done on the basis of either the entrance exam or merit in the qualifying exam. Entrance exams accepted by the university for admission include TS EAMCET for BTech, TS ICET for MBA, CLAT/ LSAT for BA+LLB, etc. The university also conducts its own entrance test: CAT- MGU for admission. Admission to other courses like BSc, BA, BCom, MSc, etc. is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.

Mahatma Gandhi University also provides scholarships to meritorious students such as national scholarships, UGC scholarships, KSCSTE Fellowships, E-Grantz, etc. The university offers 18 degrees at UG and PG levels.
