Panjab University BACHELOR OF SCIENCE [B.SC] {HONS.} (MICROBIOLOGY) - Fees, Eligibility, Seats and Admission 2024

Overall: I did my bachelor's in Microbiology and currently pursuing masters from here only. It is an integrated course. The course is well rounded and covers all the subjects included in Microbiology. The faculty is well educated and experienced and the lab is also well equipped. However, I suggest you to do your bachelor's from a college, instead of university, because the professors don't give much marks. And if you want to go abroad or change your college afterwards, the low cgpa will affect your future. But if you are okay with that, you will definitely enjoy the campus life.

Placement: There is a student run placement cell in the department. But it is not much active. The department does not do any placements on its own and no companies approach the students. The professors however have ties with PGI and IMTECH and other such institutions, and they can help you as much as they can, but they don't guarantee you placements.

Infrastructure: The department is well equipped with all the necessary machines and equipment. The department is also new, so the classrooms and labs are clean and modern.

Faculty: They have a dirth of teaching faculty right now. Many professors have retired in the past 2 years but still no new recruitment has been done. One professor had to teach more than one subject. They also don't give marks freely and only the consistent toppers score good, average students are never able to come up, even if they improve.

Hostel: Hostel life of university is quite good. The hostels are 24/7. You have full liberty to go out anytime. The food is also upto the mark. The staff is also helping and cordial. There are no cases of ragging. The hostel's are guarded by guards at night, so it is safe for girls. The gates are also well barricaded after 8 pm.
