A central library is present in the campus which helps students to update their technical knowledge. Transportation facilities available in campus connects the students to all areas of cities. SKREC Hostel & Fees Structure

The College provides a separate hostel for Boys and Girls. It is spacious, well-furnished hostel. Apart from hygienic food, the hostel provides 24x7 Wi-Fi facility and recreational facilities such as TV room, indoor games, gym etc. The hostel has its live-in warden, and in view of the limited hostel accommodation; candidates should note that the grant of admission to a programme of study in the College does not ensure allotment of hostel accommodation and that the accommodation will be offered to the eligible applicants subject to availability.

Students Activities & Clubs

Rotary Club -

Rotaract, an acronym of ‘Rotary in Action’, is the youth wing of Rotary International spreading the joy of Rotary among youngsters between 18 and 30 years of age. Rotaract is a part of the global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the college and community level but knows no limits in its outreach.

The Rotaract Movement in Rotary International District 3230 (comprising of clubs from Chennai, Vellore, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Pernambet, Wallajah and Gudiyatham). In Chennai alone, the Rotaract movement has presence in all colleges and boasts a presence of more than 80 active Rotaract clubs. Through Rotaract, we shape ourselves to be better citizen, build up our career and show our concern towards the improvement of the community we serve in by living up to our motto “Leadership Through Service”.

The District Rotaract Council 12-13, RI District 3230 is the governing body comprising members from various rotaract clubs (Presidents, Secretaries) and board members (District officials). The council meets every fortnight and has the onus of conducting meetings to evolve consensus, discuss issues pertaining on function, administration, present and discuss events and projects at club and district level.

FUNCTIONS OF A ROTARACT CLUB

Rotaract Club of SKR Engineering College organizes a variety of project and activities, depending primarily on the interest of the student members. However, within the Rotaract program, all clubs undertake three kinds of activities in varying degrees.

  1. Professional development
  2. Leadership development
  3. Service projects

Together these three areas ensure a balanced club program and provide important experience and opportunities for the personal development of each Rotaractor.


Social Club -

“Red Ribbon Club” formed in association with the Red Ribbon Clubs of USA and Tamilnadu strives for the welfare of the youth. The special features include teaching of Life Skill Techniques, and to create an awareness about HIV / AIDS. Job Orientation Programme is also done through this club. This club has been specially implemented by the Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society.

On 12th September 2005, the RRC was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr.S.Thandapani, RRC Regional Manager, Thiruvallur District, Dr R.V.Shanmuga, Mr.Sundaram, RRC/YRC Program Coordinator, Anna university, Chennai.

NSS Club -

The main aim of National Service Scheme is personality development through social service or community service. This programme is to inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the students, and to provide service to the society without any prejudice. NSS volunteers work hard day and night to ensure that every one in our society who is needy gets the every possible help from them so that they can also enhance their standards and lead a life of dignity in the society with all of us. In doing so the volunteers themselves learn a lot from the people in villages like how to struggle and how to lead a happy life in the extreme scarcity of resources and so on. Another aim is personality development through social service.

Camps

Camps are conducted annually. These activities are fully funded by the Government of India. Such camps are usually located in a rural village or in suburbs. Volunteers may be involved in activities such as

  • Cleaning
  • Afforestation
  • Stage shows or Procession creating awareness on social problems, education, cleanliness etc.,
  • Inviting doctors for health camps.
