The purpose of the Mathematics (MA) paper in IIT JAM 2026 is to evaluate a candidate's comprehension of fundamental mathematical ideas that are usually taught in undergraduate mathematics programs. The IIT JAM Mathematics (MA) 2026 syllabus is officially divided into core mathematical disciplines that reflect what Indian Institutes of Technology expect from MSc‑level entrants. The exam covers Real Analysis, Multivariable Calculus & Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Algebraic structures such as groups and vector spaces. In Real Analysis, sequences and series (including tests of convergence and power series) and properties of functions of one real variable such as limits, continuity, mean value theorems, Taylor series, and Riemann integration are explicitly included. In Multivariable Calculus, partial derivatives, maxima/minima in several variables, and multiple integrals are part of the curriculum alongside classical ordinary differential equations like Bernoulli, exact equations, and second‑order linear equations with constant coefficients. The algebra portion emphasises matrices, determinants, eigenvalues/eigenvectors and finite‑dimensional vector spaces, along with basics of group theory (cyclic/abelian groups, normal subgroups, and quotient groups) as per the official JAM 2026 syllabus. The IIT JAM 2026 exam will be conducted on February 15, 2026 in two shifts. The Mathematics paper (MA) will be conducted in shift 1 which is from 9.30 AM to 12.30 AM.

These numbers have been calculated using the previous year cutoff trends. These marks are called qualifying or cutoff marks. They are the least scores you need to be considered for admission into institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs, and others. Each of the seven subjects in IIT JAM - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Geology, Biotechnology, and Economics - has its own qualifying cutoff. But scoring the minimum marks does not mean you will get admission. Every university decides its own final cutoff for different courses based on merit and the number of applicants, and you need to clear that cutoff to actually get admission. 

IIT JAM 2026 admission form will become available on the official website jam2026iitd.ac.in. This will happen after the scorecard is out on March 20, 2026.
