Our Take:

The NIRF ranking has shown a gradual shift from 2020 to 2022, and the university’s position improved. However, 2023 saw a slight downfall from 28 to 30. Well, we firmly believe, that the varsity will make adequate efforts to maintain the ranking and help students achieve academic brilliance.

Alagappa University being a premier institution takes special care of student’s comfort. To ensure the college days turn into the best days of student life, the campus has been equipped with top-notch facilities that include hostels, comfy classrooms, internet connectivity, and food courts.

Medical Facilities

The campus has 24*7 medical facilities with registered doctors, nurses, and other personnel serving students from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. In case of emergency, both teachers as well as students are provided first aid and free medicines. 

Hostel

The university has separate hostels for boys and girls which are equipped with adequate facilities. For proper vigilance and security of female students, CCTV is installed in the girls' hostel. Internet connectivity, water supply, and television among other facilities guarantee students a comfortable campus life.

Our Take:

The facilities at Alagappa University offer complete peace of mind for students who can enhance their academic skills in a safe and well-facilitated environment. Well, our review surfaced an issue with the girls' hostel whereby a surveillance camera is installed. Though it is important for women's safety at times it offers the female student a feeling of being watched which somewhat poses a threat to their freedom at the hostel.

Alagappa University's Internships & Placements

Alagappa University established a dedicated placement cell in 2010 to empower learners’ professional skills so that the path to prospective careers remains smooth and fulfilling. Placement cells act as a bridge between students and top companies. One of the core objectives of this cell is to help students explore career options aligning with their field of study through various workshops.

Internship:

The university's career development cell offers internship opportunities for students, providing valuable insights into the expectations for campus interviews. This initiative allows students to gain practical experience and better comprehend the skills required for future professional endeavours. Through these internships, individuals can enhance their understanding of the industry and develop essential competencies. The program aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, ensuring students are well-prepared for upcoming campus interviews.

Placement:

According to the placement report, the university joined leagues with companies like Wipro, TVS, Omega Healthcare, and others to organize campus recruitment drives. To empower students in mastering carer skills that enhance their capability to secure the most lucrative offers, the university arranges carer planning and development programs. 

As the 2023 placement report is yet to be shared by the institute, we analyzed data from 2020 to 2022.  In the 2020-21 UG batch, out of 182 eligible students, 11 got placed with an average package of around INR 1,44,000 per annum. For the PG program, a total of 80 students bagged job offers in a batch strength of 1120; the median salary stood at  INR 1,80,000 per annum.

• Compared to 2021, a marked hike of 37% in the median package for PG courses is observed
• UG Student's placement rate increased four times in 2022

Our Take:

The placement rate data we compiled from various sources paints a concerning picture, indicating a consistently low placement rate of approximately 16.54% over three consecutive years for this esteemed institution. Despite the university's assertions of conducting pre-placement talks, workshops, and training, these efforts do not seem to positively impact the overall placement rates. Additionally, our findings shed light on the nature of recruiters participating in the campus placement drive. Despite affiliations with international companies, the university appears to fall short in delivering enhanced opportunities for its students. This revelation raises questions about the effectiveness of the university's ties with global organizations in facilitating better prospects for student placement.

Alagappa University’s Diversity & Demographic Representation

Alagappa University boasts of cultural diversity with students across the globe which is made possible due to their international collaborations. The disciplinary and anti-ragging cells ensure students are not discriminated against on grounds of caste, ethnicity, culture, and race. As per students, there’s a fine mixture of supportive students and few troublemakers.
