    NIMHANS Bangalore Overview

    NIMHANS Bangalore or National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences Bangalore was established in the year 1974. It is a public (deemed) institute, situated in Bangalore Karnataka. The institute has been recognised by UGC. There are 26 departments at NIMHANS Bangalore, including departments of biostatistics, biophysics, and human genetics. There are 16 centres of excellence at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, some of which include the Advanced Centre for Ayurveda, the Centre for Public Health, the Library and Information Center, the Center for Addiction Medicine, and the NIMHANS Digital Academy. As per NIRF Ranking 2023, the institute has been ranked 4th in the medical category.

    The NIMHANS Bangalore courses are offered at both postgraduate and doctoral levels. The NIMHANS Bangalore admission to all the courses is offered on the basis of an online entrance test and marks scored in the last qualifying exam. But for admission to MD in Psychiatry course, candidates have to appear in the INI-CET entrance exam conducted by AIIMS Delhi.

    The NIMHANS Bangalore campus is spread over an area of more than 135 acres and offers various facilities to interested candidates. The students of the institute have access to a wide range of facilities on campus such as a gym, girls as well as boys hostels, laboratories, a sports complex, transportation facilities, banking options, a full-fledged library, a canteen, and others. The NIMHANS Bangalore placements are conducted by a dedicated placement cell every year to allow graduating students to secure employment of their choice before even the completion of their education.     The NIMHANS Bangalore admission is offered in a variety of PG and PhD courses within many specialisations in the medical stream. The only full-time courses offered at the UG level are the B.Sc and certificate courses.     NIMHANS Bangalore Campus

    Several amenities are available to students at the NIMHANS Bangalore campus.
