North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, established in 1973 under an Act of Parliament, is a central university recognized by UGC and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. Spread across two campuses—1225 acres in Mawkynroh-Umshing, Shillong, and a 374-acre campus in Tura, Meghalaya—NEHU ranks 101–150 in the NIRF 2024 University category and 172 in QS Asian University Rankings (Southern Asia) 2025. With eight schools, 44 departments, and 79 affiliated colleges, NEHU offers 362 undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs across streams like Engineering, Arts, Science, Law, Management, and Architecture. Popular courses include B.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, and M.A. NEHU B.Sc. is not offered at the UG level; only professional UG courses like B.Tech are available.
