Lucknow University is a public university established in 1920 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The vision of establishing a university in Lucknow was initially suggested by Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, Khan Bahadur, KCIE of Mahmudabad. He advocated for the foundation of the University of Lucknow by contributing an article in ‘The Pioneer’.  It is one of the oldest and largest state universities in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow University is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE and BCI. The university is accredited with NAAC with an ‘A++’ grade and is a member of AIU. As per the NIRF Ranking 2023, Lucknow University has been ranked in the band of 101-150 under the university category. 

Lucknow University offers 100+ courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in the subject streams of arts, management, science, and engineering with multiple specialisations. It has over 45+ departments to provide students with a variety of subjects to choose from. The popular courses offered at Lucknow University include BA, B.Tech, MBA, MA, M.Sc, BFA, Diploma in Fine Arts, LLB, B.Sc, B.Com, etc. The course fee is affordable and ranges between Rs 3,000 to Rs 25,000.

Admissions at Lucknow University are offered based on the candidate's performance in the last qualifying exam or entrance exam. For example, JEE Main is accepted for admission to the BTech programme at LU. Registrations for JEE Main 2024 Session 2 are open and the deadline for application is March 2, 2024. The examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). For the academic session 2024-25, JEE Main Session 2 is scheduled to be held between April 4 to April 15, 2024. Admission to other UG and PG courses is based on UGET, PGET and CUET. The applications for UGET and PGET are expected to begin in March 2024. CUET 2024 is scheduled for May 15 to May 31, 2024.

Lucknow University courses are offered at UG, PG, doctoral, diploma and certificate levels. Admission to most courses available at LU is merit-based. At the UG level, 15 courses are offered by Lucknow University including the most sought-after BTech programme. Other UG courses are BA, BCom, BBA, B.Sc, BCA, LLB, BVA and BFA. At the PG level, a total of 67 courses are available across varied disciplines. Lucknow University admission is offered through either the university-owned entrance exam or government entrance exams. JEE Main entrance test forms the basis for B.Tech admissions at the University of Lucknow. MBA admission is based on Lucknow University Management Entrance Test (LUMET) scores. For admission to most UG courses, LU conducts the Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) and Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) for admission to various PG courses. The results of the class 12 qualifying exam are considered if two candidates earn the same scores in the entrance exam. Step 1: Check Eligibility Criteria

Step 2: Registration and Application

• After checking the eligibility, students can apply for their desired courses. 
• Lucknow University application forms are available online at the official website of the university. 
• The application process of Lucknow University includes different steps such as generation of Lucknow University Registration Number (LURN), form filling, uploading documents and paying application fees. 

Step 3: Appearing for Entrance Examination

• Now, candidates need to appear for respective entrance exams for admission to UG and PG courses. 

Step 4: Shortlisting of Candidates

• Lucknow University will shortlist candidates based on their performance in the entrance examination. 
• Candidates must meet the course-specific cutoff required under Lucknow University selection criteria. 

Step 5: Personal Interview

• Lucknow University selection process involves a personal interview round for admission to courses such as MBA or MTTM. 
• Candidates appearing for PI will only be considered for final selection. 

Step 6: Counselling 

• Lucknow University conducts couselling at the university level for most courses. For some courses like B.Tech, counselling is held by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) known as UPTAC. 
• The merit list of selected students is released under the Lucknow University counselling process for all the courses. 

Step 7: Admission Confirmation

Lucknow University placements are managed by the dedicated Central Placement Cell (CPC). The motive of the placement cell is to make sure that the right talent gets opportunities at reputed multinational companies, private companies and government organisations. CPC has released the ‘Lucknow University Placement Quarterly Report 2023’. Based on the report, the highest package offered at the university was Rs 24.8 LPA by ONGC. Lucknow University Placements 2024 

Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship and Karmyogi Scheme are two of the Lucknow University scholarships offered to students. The committee that chooses which candidates receive financial aid through these scholarships is chaired by the dean of student welfare. The Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship provides qualifying students with Rs 15000, which is equal to their actual annual or semester tuition. Students are urged to work part-time employment on campus, where they can earn Rs.150 per hour. According to the Karmyogi Scheme, a student can only make a maximum of Rs 15,000. To apply for Lucknow University scholarships, interested students must submit an online application to the DSW Office in the required manner.

Lucknow University Scholarships Eligibility Criteria

• The total income of the candidate's parents or guardians shall not exceed Rs 3 Lakh per annum. Candidate shall have to attach an income certificate attested by the competent authority. 
• There shall be no back paper from the previous semester or annual examination left by the candidates. 
• The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous examination. 
• The applying student shall make sure they have at least 75% attendance in the former academic session/year. 
• Getting involved in any unlawful activities shall null and void the eligibility of a candidate. 
• They are not getting any other financial assistance such as fellowship/scholarship. 

The facilities at the Lucknow University campus are available to ensure that students have a trouble-free time there. The students are given access to a variety of amenities by Lucknow University.
