It is conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB), Patna.

The Bihar UGEAC 2026 counselling is entirely based on JEE Main 2026 scores, meaning there is no separate Bihar-level entrance exam for engineering admissions this year. Bihar UGEAC Eligibility Criteria 2026

Before you register, make sure you actually meet all three pillars of UGEAC eligibility: age, domicile, and academics. Missing even one can get your application rejected at the document verification stage, and that's a mistake that students regret deeply after travelling to a reporting centre.

Age Limit

D.Voc stream graduates in the same or allied sector are also eligible.

Bihar UGEAC 2026 Registration Process: Step-by-Step

A cutoff score for the JEE Main exam will be established by the Bihar B.Tech admissions authority. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Exam Board's cutoff will determine which students make it onto the merit list for admission to the B.Tech programme in Bihar. The B.Tech counselling process in Bihar will only take into consideration candidates who are on the merit list. The UGEAC 2026 registration is done entirely online at bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. Step 1: Registration Using JEE Main 2026 Details

Visit the official BCECEB admissions portal and start with the registration form. You'll need to enter your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Date of Birth. The system does an instant online verification of your JEE Main details with NTA's database, so make sure the details you enter match your JEE Main form exactly, even down to date format.

One important caution here: enter your own mobile number and email address. All communication, including your UGEAC-ID, seat allotment result, and document verification schedule, will come to these contact details. Entering a parent's number is fine only if they'll actively forward you information.

Once you register and verify via OTP, your mobile number and email address cannot be changed under any circumstances. The password you set is your responsibility, BCECEB will not reset it for you if you forget.

Step 2: Fill in Personal Information

After logging in with your registered email and password, complete the personal information section on screen. Once submitted, you'll be assigned your UGEAC-ID — note this down carefully. It's your identity number for the entire counselling process.

Step 3: Upload Photo and Signature

Upload a recent passport-size photograph and your full signature in both Hindi and English (not in capital letters). The photo must be high-contrast and should ideally show a placard with your name and the date of the photograph. This is a common step where students rush and upload blurry or incorrectly cropped images, which causes issues at document verification later.

Step 4: Enter Educational Qualification Details

Enter your Class 12 (or Diploma) marks and board information carefully. Any mismatch here with your original certificates will be flagged at the reporting centre.

Step 5: Preview and Verify Your Application

Review every single entry before submitting. If anything looks wrong, click "Back to Edit" and correct it. Once you click "Confirm & Submit," you move to fee payment and cannot edit the form again.

Step 6: Pay the Counselling Fee

Fees can be paid online using Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. Note that a small processing fee applies for online payments. The counselling fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether you get a seat or not.

Step 7: Download Part A and Part B

After successful payment, download and print both Part A and Part B of your application form. Keep multiple physical copies. You will need to carry these printed copies to the reporting centre during document verification, digital copies on your phone are not accepted.

Bihar UGEAC Choice Filling 2026: Strategy That Actually Matters

This is the most critical step of the entire Bihar UGEAC 2026 counselling process, and also the one where most students make avoidable mistakes.

After the merit list is published, shortlisted candidates must log in to the portal and fill their preferences of colleges and branches in order of priority. Here's what the official brochure won't tell you:

• Add as many colleges as possible:There is no upper limit on the number of choices you can add. Students who add only 5–6 choices and don't get any of them end up with no seat, even when seats are available in other colleges they'd have been happy with.
• Be realistic about your rank:Look at the 2025 closing ranks for reference. If your JEE Main percentile is below 75, prioritising newer government colleges like GEC Vaishali, GEC Jamui, or GEC Banka gives you better chances than fixating only on MIT Muzaffarpur or BCE Bhagalpur, which typically have higher cutoffs.
• Order your choices by genuine preference:The system allots seats automatically based on your rank and the order you've listed. You won't be asked to "accept or reject" - whatever comes first in your locked list that matches your rank gets allotted.
• Choice filling is a one-time exercise:Unlike some other state counsellings, Bihar UGEAC does not allow fresh choice filling in Round 2. Your Round 1 choices carry forward. So take Round 1 seriously.

Choice Locking: Once you're satisfied with your ordered choices, click "Lock Choices" and enter your password to confirm. You can unlock and re-lock within the deadline. After the deadline, choices are auto-locked in whatever state they're in, so don't wait for the last hour given how server loads behave on deadline days.

Bihar UGEAC 2026 Seat Allotment Procedure

The UGEAC 2026 seat allotment is conducted in two rounds. Here's how it works:

Round 1 Seat Allotment (July 31, 2026)

Results are published on the BCECEB website. If you're allotted a seat, download the Allotment Order (keep at least 3 printed copies) and report to the designated Reporting / Nodal Centre for document verification between August 1-4, 2026.

At the reporting centre, you must also carry a Demand Draft of ₹2,500 in favour of the allotted institute. This is a provisional admission fee. Document verification will confirm your admission.

Round 2 Seat Allotment (August 9, 2026)

Candidates who did not get a seat in Round 1, or those who got a seat but want an upgrade, can participate in Round 2. Results were published on August 9, 2026, with document verification between August 10–12, 2026.

Important: Candidates who fail to report for document verification within the given schedule are eliminated from the counselling process entirely. Their seat is moved to the next round, and they are not allowed to participate further. Don't miss reporting deadlines for any reason.

Merit List Preparation

A merit list of applicants will be compiled by the admissions authority using the candidates' entrance exam results and Class 12 PCM subject scores. On the merit list will be all applicants who pass the state-level entrance exam with the required minimum score. Each candidate will receive a rank to give them a sense of where they stand on the merit list. In our experience tracking Bihar engineering admissions over several years, these are the mistakes that cost students seats every single year:

1. Entering wrong JEE Main application number during registration- causes instant verification failure and wastes days in resolution.
