HSTES B.Tech Admission 2024 - The Haryana B.Tech admission process 2024 will tentatively begin in June 2024. Candidates from all across the state participate in the HSTEST 2024 counselling to get admission in BE/ BTech/ BArch programmes. Candidates in the Kashmiri Migrants (KM) and Haryana Government School Toppers (HGST) categories will be admitted to BE/BTech courses on the basis of merit of percentage of qualifying exam through two online off-campus counselling sessions. HSTES (Haryana State Technical Education Society) is responsible for conducting Haryana B.Tech Admissions. Unlike many other states, HSTES does not conduct an entrance exam for B.Tech admissions in Haryana. HSTES conducts an online counselling process for Bachelor of Technology courses in Haryana and interested students can take part in the counselling process to secure admission. About HSTES Haryana B.Tech Admissions 2024
The Haryana B.Tech admission process will tentatively commence from June 2024 and last till July 2024. HSTES accepts only JEE Main scores for Haryana B.Tech admissions, and the aspirants must have a valid JEE Main score in order to secure admission. JEE Main 2024 exam date for session 1 is January 24 to February 1, 2024, and the JEE Main session 2 exam date is April 1 to 15, 2024.

Entrance Exams Accepted by Haryana Engineering Colleges
All the government engineering colleges and universities across the state, private/ unaided/ self-financing engineering colleges in Haryana accept JEE Main score for B.Tech admissions. Therefore, Haryana B.Tech aspirants must appear and clear JEE Main in order to secure B.Tech admission in government or private engineering colleges across the state. The state government does not conduct any entrance tests for B.Tech admissions.
Haryana B.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2024
The B.Tech eligibility criteria for Haryana B.Tech admissions are as follows -
Minimum Academic Qualification for B.Tech/ B.E:
The B.Tech applicants of Haryana must have passed Class 12 from a recognized board with the following subjects –
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry (or) Biotechnology (or) Biology/ Technical Vocational Subject
Diploma in Engineering holders can also apply for B.Tech admission in Haryana under the Lateral Entry scheme. The applicants must have scored at least 45% of marks in Class 12 or Diploma in Engineering in order to secure admission.
B.Tech Biotechnology Eligibility Criteria: In order to secure B.Tech Biotechnology admission in Haryana, the applicants must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics, or Biology as the compulsory subjects. The minimum qualifying percentage in Class 12 should be 45%.
Domicile Rule: Domicile rule applies to only state quota Haryana B.Tech admissions. Candidates applying under the state quota must have passed Class 12 from Haryana.
Haryana B Tech Admission Procedure 2024
Haryana B.Tech/ B.E admissions are based on the JEE Main score of the candidates. Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES) conducts an online counselling process for Haryana B.Tech admissions. All the details pertaining to the Haryana B.Tech admission procedure or counselling process are elaborated below.
Steps to Take Part in Online Off-Campus Counselling for Haryana B.Tech Admissions
- The online off-campus counselling is applicable to only those students who wish to take part in online admission counselling in order to get B.Tech admission in Haryana
- Before registering for online counselling, the applicants must read the Haryana B.Tech admissions information broacher available on the official website of HSTES
- Deposit the counselling fees through the ‘Payment Registration’ link available on the official website of HSTES. During the counselling fee payment, a Roll Number is generated, and the candidates must note the roll number
- The counselling fee can be paid by using credit/debit card/net banking. The registration fee for the General Category is Rs. 500 and Rs. 200 for the Special Categories
Haryana B Tech Cutoff 2024
The authorities prepare the cutoff of Haryana B.Tech admission 2024 which acts as a screening process. The minimum marks that the candidates are required to secure for higher chances of admission are present in the cutoff. While preparing the cutoff, the authorities take various factors such as the number of seats, number of applicants, previous year trends, and more into consideration. It should be noted that the cutoff will vary for each course, institute, and category. The HSTES Haryana B.Tech final cutoff for admission will be released tentatively in the second week of September 2024.
Haryana B Tech Counselling 2024
After the counselling fee payment, the candidates can submit the online application form to take part in Haryana online off-campus counselling for B.Tech courses. The seats are available in B.Tech/ B.E courses across Haryana state are filled against 15% ‘Rest of Haryana Quota’ (excluding Haryana State) until the second counselling. After the second counselling process, the seats vacant under ‘Rest of Haryana Quota’ will be transferred to General Category to all applicants in Haryana in subsequent counselling to be conducted at the institutional level. More details with regard to the first and second counselling are elaborated below.
Haryana B.Tech First Counselling
The first counselling for B.Tech courses in Haryana is conducted for all categories such as RoHC, ESM, PH, BC-B, BC-A, SC, TFW, KM, and HOGC. The first round of counselling will have a 25% horizontal female reservation.
Haryana B.Tech Second Counselling
The second counselling for B.Tech courses in Haryana is conducted for categories such as BC, SC, TFW, KM, HOGC, ESM, PH, and RoHC. The second counselling will also have 25% horizontal female reservation.
Haryana B.Tech Institutional-Level Counselling
After second-round counselling, there will be no online counselling for B.Tech admissions in Haryana. The admissions for all categories will be conducted at the institutional level. The admissions are conducted based on the JEE Main score, as well as the inter-se merit of the qualifying exam. Candidates without a JEE Main score can take part in institutional-level counselling under inter-se merit.
Steps to Register for HSTES Haryana B Tech Counselling
Before registering for the Haryana B.Tech admission process, the candidates must deposit or pay the counselling fee of Rs. 500 through the official website. (refer to the steps to take part in the online counselling section above). In order to register for Haryana online counselling for B.Tech admissions, the candidates must visit the official website of the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES). The subsequent application process is elaborated below –
- First, click on the ‘New Registration’ link on the HSTES website
- Submit your details such as course preference, roll number (generated during counselling fee payment), application number, date of birth, and name. All the details such as the name and date of birth should be as per the JEE Main admit card
- A series of columns will be displayed after submitting the above details, and the candidates must fill all the columns with relevant details
- After entering all the details, it is advisable to crosscheck the details, an application form cannot be edited once submitted
- If you are sure about the details entered in the application form, click on the link that indicates ‘Registration Confirmation’
- Now, login to the website again with your User ID and Password
- Confirm the registration details and proceed to the choice filling
- In order to increase the probability of securing admission, the applicants must fill in the maximum number of choices
- ‘Lock’ the choices after filling
- Take the printout of the application form and choice preferences page for future reference

HSTES Haryana B Tech Selection Process 2024
HSTES will allocate seats to the candidates based on the JEE Main 2024 merit/ inter-se merit of qualifying exams (only for some categories), choice preferences of the candidates, course preference of the candidates, and availability of seats in engineering colleges. Most probably, the candidates are expected to secure admission to college as per their higher choice preference. The seat allotment results will be published on the HSTES website.
After the seat allotment, the candidates must download the provisional seat allotment letter from the official website, report to the respective institute, and deposit the first semester fees at the respective institute. While reporting, the applicants must carry all the relevant documents prescribed by HSTES in the information brochure.
HSTES Haryana B Tech Admission Reservation Policy 2024
The B.Tech seat allotment in Haryana is purely based on the reservation policy, and seats are distributed for each category as per the reservation policies of the government. The distribution of seats as per the reservation policy can be checked below.

Reservation Policy for Private Unaided Institutions
The sanctioned engineering seats or intake in private unaided institutes shall be distributed as follows –
- Firstly, 50% of sanctioned intake (including 25% of seats under management quota) are filled based on JEE Main All India Rank (AIR). Later, the seats are filled as per Class 12 merit
- 50% of seats in private unaided institutes are filled by HSTES
HSTES Kashmiri Migrant Seats
This programme offers 5% of the authorised enrollment for each course in seats. The positions are supernumerary in nature and will be filled on a merit-based basis based on the results of the qualifying exam. The percentage will be determined using the grades received in math, physics, English, and any one of the following subjects—chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or technical vocational—whichever is highest. Applicants must present the original, properly signed Migration Certificate from the relief commissioner or other appropriate authority.HSTES BE/BTech Tuition Fee Waiver
Under this scheme, candidates with parents' combined annual income of less than eight lakhs will be eligible for seats. Supernumerary seats fall under this category, with admissions available for a maximum of 5% of the "Approved Intake" for each course. Only these courses in an institution where at least 30% of the "approved intake" are filled will be eligible for supernumerary seats. Applicants wishing to apply for the HSTES tuition fee waiver programme must present a valid Income Certificate from the appropriate government agency.HSTES Haryana Government School Topper (HGST) Seats
Based on the inter-semerit of Class 12, the BE/BTech Programme seats in each branch of the Institutes will be filled. The top scorer ought to have received at least 50% of the possible points in the second division. The candidate will need to present a certificate from the principal or headmaster of the government school where they are the top student, explicitly indicating the calibre of the class, attesting to their claim.HSTES Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Seats
All educational institutions must offer seats under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation programme, up to a maximum of 10% of the authorised intake per course. The seats are going to be supernumerary.Also Read: Engineering Admission Process in India

Haryana B Tech Seat Allotment 2024
The seat allotment result for Haryana B.Tech admission 2024 will be tentatively released Second week of August 2024 for the first round. As mentioned in the Haryana B.Tech counselling process section, the seat allotment is completely online. The seat will be allotted to the candidates based on the choice preferences of the candidates, JEE Main merit, and Class 12 merit. The seat allotment results will be published on the official website on the stipulated date. The candidates have the right to accept or reject the seat allotment. If the candidates wish to participate in the subsequent or next round of the counselling process, they can reject the existing allotment and take part in the next round of the admission process. The seat allotment will be based on the reservation policies of the government (refer to the reservation policy section above).
