BHU Admission 2023

BHU admission 2023 for both undergraduate and graduate programmes shall be conducted based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores. The CUET UG 2023 was conducted between May 21 and May 31, 2023. The deadline to register for CUET PG 2023 was May 5, 2023. The dates of the CUET PG 2023 test were June 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, 2023.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) provides admission to a variety of courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The institution also provides certifications and UG/PG Diploma programmes. For BHU UG admission 2023, the university provides degrees such as B.A (Hons), B.Com (Hons), B.Sc (Hons), B.Ed, B.A.M.S, B.P.Ed, LLB, MBBS, B.Voc, BPA, and others. M.A., MBA, M.Phil, M.Sc, MFA, LLM, M.Tech, and other programmes are available for BHU PG admission 2023.

Candidates must have completed the 10+2 level with a minimum of 50% of their total marks in the appropriate fields in order to be eligible for UG programmes at BHU. For PG courses, candidates must hold a master's degree with at least a 50% grade point average. Admission to UG and PG programmes will be made through the NTA-conducted Common University Entrance Test (CUET), with the exception of MBA and MBA IB. BHU recognises CUET UG and PG results for UG and PG programmes, respectively. The decision will be made in accordance with the BHU merit list, which is based on CUET scores.

The CAT scores, followed by the university-conducted GD and PI rounds, are used to determine admission to the BHU MBA and MBA IB programmes. The CAT Score will be given 50% weight, while the performance on the GD and PI will receive 30%. Academic achievement will be given the remaining 20% weight. NEET test results are used to determine who gets admitted to BHU's medical programmes, including MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. (Nursing), and BAMS.

BHU Eligibility Criteria 2023

BA (Hons) Social Sciences

Passed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. 

For BA (Hons) Economics), the students must have Mathematics as one of the subjects in the qualifying exam. 

B.Com (Hons)10+2 or equivalent with Commerce / Economics / Finance / Financial Markets Management /  Maths / Computer Science/ vocational courses as one of the subjects securing a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.  
B.Tech in Food Technology10+2 or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English from a recognised board/ institution. Candidates must score at least 50% marks or equivalent GPA in aggregate. 
BPA ( Instrumental Sitar/ Instrumental Flute/ Instrumental Violin/ Tabla)

10+2 or equivalent

Graduate / PG diploma in Vocal Music (Hindustani. Dhupad) / Instrumental Music (Sitar / Violin / Flute / Tabla & Mridangam) / Dance (Kathak / Bharatnatyam) as one of the subjects in any of the above courses.

Three year diploma certificate in Vocal Music (Hindustani) / Instrumental Music (Sitar / Violin / Flute / Tabla & Mridangam) / Dance (Kathak / Bharatnatyam) of BHU or equivalent exam. 

M.Sc Physics/ ChemistryB.Sc with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in science subjects (considering all the three years of B.Sc course). The subject in which admission is sought must also be an honors subject at B.Sc level or a subject pursued in all the three years at graduate level.  
M.Sc in Biochemistry B.Sc (Hons) in Biochemistry or B.Sc under 10+2+3 pattern with Biochemistry as a subject in all the three years of graduation. Candidates must score a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in Science subjects.
MA in English/ Hindi/ BengaliBA (Hons)/ BA under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. The subject in which MA admission is sought must be an honors subject at BA level or a subject studied in all the three years of BA.
MBA/ MBA- IB

BHU Admission 2023 for Diploma/ PG Diploma/ Certificate Courses

Banaras Hindu University admission into diploma, PG diploma and certificate courses can be done online. The students must check the eligibility criteria and other requirements before applying. Only the ongoing BHU students are eligible. The admission process involves the following steps:

  • Applicants must get themselves registered at bhuonline.in
  • A fee of Rs 200 must be paid online to confirm BHU registration.
  • Applicants must print the final application form and submit it to the respective departments duly forwarded by the Director/Dean/Principal of MMV/ Head where he/she is enrolled along with the following documents:  
    • Fee receipt of the first installment of the course
    • Bonafide certificate of the current session from the department
    • Mark sheet of qualifying exam, caste certificate, proof of being a BHU student, etc

BHU UG Admission 2023

Candidates applying for BHU UG programmes must first qualify for the CUET UG conducted by the NTA. After clearing the CUET, the rest of the BHU UG admission process begins. In brief, the UG admission at BHU includes the following steps:

  • Register for the CUET UG through the cuet.samarth.ac.in portal.
  •  Students also need to apply for their specific UG courses through the official BHU website.

BHU MBA Admission 2023

There are two BHU MBA programmes namely, MBA (specialisations in Marketing/ Human Resource Management / Finance/ Operations Management/ Information Technology) and MBA- International Business (MBA-IB) (specialisations in Marketing/ Human Resource Management / Finance / Operations Management/ Information Technology / Global Business Operations). 

The BHU MBA admission for both programmes is done through CAT. Other than that, it is mandatory for students to have a valid bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognised university. The steps for MBA at Banaras Hindu University admission are:

  • Register for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management for the corresponding year. 50% weightage will be given to the CAT score while calculating the merit for MBA at BHU admission
  • Candidates must also apply separately for admission to MBA/ MBA IB programmes at Banaras Hindu University through the University Admission Portal (www.bhuonline.in) on or before the specified last date.
  • Shortlisted candidates on the basis of CAT score will be notified for group discussion and interview. Weightage for group discussion and interview score will be 30% (15% each). 
  • Shortlisted candidates must carry the following documents:
    • Valid identity proof (Aadhaar card/ PAN card). Must be self attested.
    • Self attested copy of CAT scorecard.
    • Self attested copies of all academic certificates/ marksheets. 
    • Appearing certificate from the head of the institution in case, the qualifying exam results are not out.
    • Self attested copy of caste certificate (in case of SC/ ST/ OBC- NCL). EWS candidates must present their updated family income certificate.
    • Details of remittance of Rs 2000 to be paid online OR demand draft in favour of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University payable at Varanasi as processing fee for group discussion and personal interview on the scheduled date.
  • After the final selection, the BHU MBA admission process can be completed online. Candidates are required to apply online through the University Admission Portal (www.bhuonline.in) with a valid email ID and mobile number.
  • The application fee is Rs 2000 (Rs 1000 for SC/ST) must be paid online as per guidelines provided on the BHU Admission Portal
  • Save the confirmation page for further reference.

BHU PG Admission 2023

The BHU PG admissions take place through the CUET PG. But students must check the course-wise eligibility criteria too, before applying for any programme. Banaras Hindu University PhD Admission 2023

For PhD admission at BHU, students must appear for the RET or Research Entrance Test followed by a personal interview or group discussion. Apart from RET, students must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria of securing 50% and above in the qualifying exam. Qualifying for UG-NET, CSIR NET (including JRF), GATE, SLET, etc. is also a mandatory requirement for PhD at Banaras Hindu University. The BHU PhD admission process includes the following steps:

  • Register for the BHU RET and clear the test.

Yes, Banaras Hindu University offers a 5.5 years Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yoga Sciences (BNYS) course in full-time mode. The course is of 4.5 years + 1 year of mandatory internship. You can get admission in BNYS course at BHU Varanasi based on NEET UG scores. There are 30 seats available in the BNYS course.
