Banaras Hindu University (BHU) BTech is a 4-year, 8-semester undergraduate engineering programme offered through the Institute of Agricultural Sciences BHU Varanasi. BHU BTech total fees for 2026 are INR 3.2 Lakhs for Food Technology and Dairy Technology for the complete 4-year course. Both are government-aided programmes under BHU's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. SC/ST/PwD students may be eligible for a full tuition fee waiver under UGC and the Government of India schemes. To apply for B.Tech at BHU, candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions as per the official prospectus. There is no age bar for BHU Central University programmes, but candidates must have valid CUET UG 2026 scores.

• Qualifying Examination: Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology (PCMB) as compulsory subjects.
• Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate in Class 12 for General/OBC/EWS category. SC/ST/PwD candidates get a 5% relaxation, i.e., a minimum of 45% aggregate.
• Entrance Exam: A valid CUET UG 2026 score in the relevant subject combination is mandatory. BHU does not accept JEE Main scores for B.Tech Food Technology or Dairy Technology — these specialisations are distinct from IIT BHU's engineering programmes.
• Subject at Class 12: For B.Tech Dairy Technology, candidates with Biology as an additional subject (PCMB) are also eligible alongside PCM candidates. For Food Technology, either PCM or PCMB is acceptable.

BHU BTech admission uses a two-stage process: qualifying CUET-UG through NTA, then registering on BHU's own CAP-UG portal after results are out. There is no interview or group discussion for BTech. Admission is purely merit-based on CUET score and category. Below is the Step-by-Step BHU BTech admission process 2026:

• Appear for CUET-UG 2026: Register on exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG and select Physics (322), Chemistry (306), and Mathematics (319) as domain subjects. Appear for the exam.
• Download CUET Result: After NTA declares results, download your scorecard from the NTA portal. Your normalised score out of 800 is used for BHU counselling.
• Register on BHU CAP-UG Portal: Visit bhucuet.samarth.edu.in after the BHU registration window opens. Register using your NTA Application Number and fill in personal, academic, and category details.
• Pay CAP Registration Fee: Pay INR 500 (General/OBC-NCL/EWS) or INR 250 (SC/ST/PwBD) on the BHU CAP portal. Keep the transaction ID.
• Fill Course Preferences: Select your preferred specialisation, BTech Food Technology and/or BTech Dairy Technology under Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi campus). List all options in order of preference.
• Lock Choices: Review and lock your preferences before the deadline. Changes are NOT allowed after locking.
• Check Seat Allotment: Log in on the result date to check if a seat is allotted. Allotment is based on your CUET score, category, and choice preference.
• Accept Seat and Pay Fees: If allotted, accept the seat on the portal and pay the seat acceptance fee within 3 days to prevent forfeiture.
• Physical Reporting and Document Verification: Report to the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi with all original documents. Pay the balance of the course fee and complete enrolment.
   

BHU BTech admission requires applying on two separate portals: NTA's CUET-UG platform and BHU's CAP-UG portal at bhucuet.samarth.edu.in (opens after CUET results). Follow the BHU BTech admission steps below for the BHU CAP-UG application after your CUET result is declared.

• Visit bhucuet.samarth.edu.in when BHU announces the registration window. Click on "New Registration".
• Enter your NTA Application Number, registered email ID, and mobile number. Create a secure password.
• Log in and complete the personal and academic profile — enter Class 10, 12 details, CUET roll number, and category.
• Upload documents: scanned Class 12 marksheet, caste certificate, income certificate, photograph, and signature in the specified format (JPEG/PDF, under 200 KB).
• Pay the BHU CAP registration fee of INR 500 (General/OBC-NCL/EWS) or INR 250 (SC/ST/PwBD) through the portal payment gateway.
• Fill course preferences under "BHU Varanasi", select BTech Food Technology and BTech Dairy Technology in your order of preference. You may list both; if not allotted the first choice, the second is automatically considered.
• Review all entries carefully. Once you click "Lock & Submit", preferences cannot be changed.
• Download and save your application confirmation slip for future reference.
• After seat allotment, log in and check your allotment result. If a seat is allotted, click "Accept Seat" and pay the fee within the stated deadline to confirm.

The following documents are required during BHU counselling registration and at the time of document verification at the campus. Original documents must be produced at the time of verification.

• Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate (for date of birth verification)
• Class 12 marksheet (must show PCM/PCMB with minimum 50% aggregate)
• CUET UG 2026 score card (download from NTA portal)
• Category certificate: OBC-NCL / SC / ST / EWS / PwD certificate (issued by competent authority, as applicable)

BHU BTech admission is based on CUET UG 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There is no separate BHU-level entrance test for B.Tech Food Technology or Dairy Technology. CUET UG replaced the earlier BHU Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET) from 2022, and it does not take JEE Mains scores for admission; it is strictly based on CUET scores.

BHU BTech semester examination results are published on the official BHU result portal. Results are declared within 45–60 days after the last paper of each semester exam.

• Result Portal: Visit bhu.ac.in and click on 'Examination' → 'Results', or go directly to bhu.ac.in/Site/Examinations/1_2_13_Main-Site
• Login: Use your Enrolment Number (provided at admission) and date of birth to access results.
• Format: Results are declared semester-wise (Odd: November–December exams; Even: April–May exams).
• Revaluation: Students dissatisfied with results can apply for re-evaluation (scrutiny and revaluation both available) within the notified window, usually 15–20 days after result declaration. Fee and process are notified on bhu.ac.in.
• Grade System: BHU follows a 10-point grading system (CGPA-based) for B.Tech. A minimum CGPA of 4.0 is required to pass each semester.
• Backlog Policy: Students with arrears must clear them in the immediately next available odd/even semester. Final year students with pending backlogs are conditionally allowed to appear in the final semester, but cannot receive their degree until all backlogs are cleared.
