FYUGP stands for Four Year Undergraduate Programme, introduced under the National Education Policy 2020. Students who join through UGCAP 2026 are enrolled in FYUGP. The key difference from the earlier 3-year system is flexibility — FYUGP students can exit with a 3-year UG degree after completing minimum credits, or continue for a 4-year Honours degree with a project, or complete a 4-year Honours with Research degree with a mandatory research dissertation. All Honours programmes under FYUGP have a specialisation. Students choose their exit pathway based on performance; they don't need to decide at the time of admission. The 3-year exit is equivalent to the old BCom/BA/BSc degree.
The index mark for Calicut University UGCAP 2026 is calculated from marks obtained in the qualifying examination — primarily Plus Two (Class 12). For boards other than Kerala HSE, marks are normalised to the Kerala HSE maximum to ensure a level playing field. Bonus and weightage marks are then added to the normalised marks for eligible candidates. The index mark software on the portal calculates this automatically based on the details you enter. The detailed indexing methodology — including subject-wise and stream-wise calculation criteria — is published in Appendix I of the CUFYUGP-CAP Prospectus 2026-27 at admission.uoc.ac.in. Principals are required to verify each candidate's index mark before admission.
Yes, students from CBSE (AISSCE Class 12), ICSE/ISC, and all other state board Higher Secondary examinations are eligible for Calicut University UG admission 2026 through UGCAP. Their marks are normalised to Kerala HSE's marking system for the purpose of index mark calculation, ensuring fair ranking against Kerala board students. For boards whose equivalency is not automatically recognised, candidates must obtain an equivalency or recognition certificate from Calicut University before admission. NIOS students are eligible but must produce a recognition certificate issued by Calicut University at the time of admission, after clearing a minimum of five subjects, including English.
Under Calicut University UGCAP 2026, affiliated colleges fall into three types. Government colleges are fully funded by the state government — they typically have the lowest fee structures and are highly sought-after. Government-aided colleges receive government funding for staff salaries but may charge some fees; they offer merit seats under UGCAP as well as community quota seats for the management's community. Self-financing colleges (also called unaided colleges) receive no government funding — they charge higher fees and fill 50% of merit seats through UGCAP and the remaining 50% through management quota. When filling your 20 options, it is worth including a mix of all three types to maximise allotment chances. Fee structures vary significantly — government college fees are regulated and far lower than self-financing college fees.
The official Calicut University UGCAP 2026 allotment schedule has not been announced as of the registration opening date. It will be published on admission.uoc.ac.in after registration closes on June 12, 2026. Based on the 2025 pattern, the trial allotment was released in the second week of June and the first allotment in the third week. For 2026, expect a similar timeline — though exact dates will be confirmed only after the official schedule is released. Watch the portal ticker at admission.uoc.ac.in for announcements. This article will be updated as soon as official allotment dates are published.
