Overall: I am an alumnus of Calicut University and honestly, that is one decision that I have never regretted in my life. I would like to share my experience with you which will definitely give you a clear picture of how Calicut University has not only given my career a kickstart but also has helped me evolve as a tech expert in my domain. I have lot of memories attached with Calicut University. Being Punctual is one of the qualities I learned from this university.
Placement: Placements are good, a maximum of the students will get placed. The percentage of students placed in the year 2022 is about 96% every year. 400+ companies visit our campus like Amazon, Accenture, TCS, Wipro, and many more. The highest package is about 30 LPA, the least is 4 LPA and the average package is 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Calicut University has a Wi-Fi facility with good internet speed. We have labs and each lab have Wi-Fi, printers, and scanner. There is a server room present that handles all machines present in labs. Thus university also have a library, projector facility for presentation, workshops and seminars.
Faculty: Teachers are wonderful with experience in the industry. The teachers make students ready for industry-required knowledge. The passing percentage is above 65% for entire placements to sit. The quality of teaching is good, they include industry and industrial visits for the subjects required. Teachers are making students ready for industry requirements.
Hostel: Most hostels at Calicut University have a dining hall where students can have their meals. The food provided is usually vegetarian, and the menu may vary on a daily basis. The hostels offer rooms on a sharing basis, usually with two or three students per room. The rooms are equipped with basic furniture like beds, study tables, chairs, and storage units.
Overall: Hi, I am Hargun and I have completed my Ph.D. from Calicut University and I was a student of the 2019 batch. If you ask me, it is a very good option for a master's degree as you will get all the necessary facilities here along with the good educational facilities. The best thing I liked about this university is that our study was not only limited to textbook theories but we were also introduced to practical research on some of the most crucial topics which enhanced my learning as a PhD student greatly.
Infrastructure: Over the years, the campus has undergone significant changes, including the addition of state-of-the-art laboratories, a central library, well-equipped labs, premium boys and girls hostels, world-class smart classrooms, Wi-Fi, theaters, museums, auditoriums, an indoor stadium, and a playground.
Faculty: My faculties were highly qualified and they were ace in their respective subjects. In fact, most of them were from IIT/NIT. The faculty members use multiple teaching methods, including lectures, GD, case studies, and live projects, to make learning more effective. We were also taken to many study tours and industrial visits so that we can learn from the real world. All in all, the faculties are going to help you a lot in learning.
Hostel: Hostel Facilities at Calicut University will make you feel at home. You will find all the necessities around you easily. Food is one of the important factors to be considered when opting for hostels. The quality of food is pretty good, you will get enough options for a single meal to choose from. On Weekends or on Holidays the schedule extends for an extra 30 minutes. Also, though it is always advisable to follow the timings you can request the food if you have any urgency or some class scheduled. Mess staff and wardens are always there to help you in any hour of need.
Overall: Calicut University is known for its focus on practical learning, with hands-on experiences and industry exposure being a key part of many of its programs. The university also places a strong emphasis on research, encouraging students to take an active role in exploring and discovering new knowledge in their fields of study.
Placement: Finally, after my hard work and help from the university, I was placed in Amazon. Even 80% of my friends were placed at good companies. The average package for our batch was 7 LPA to 8 LPA. We are happily settled in different parts of the country but we still miss our time at Calicut University
Infrastructure: Calicut University has a great campus. There are many facilities offered inside the campus such as hostel rooms, classrooms, library facilities, and all activities. Cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and table tennis, etc. are the sports played. Mess includes North Indian and South Indian food available. Wi-Fi for laptops is available inside the campus everywhere in the canteen also. Medical facilities are also available.
Faculty: Faculty members at Calicut University have a strong academic background and expertise in their respective fields. They stay updated with the latest research and developments in their areas of specialization. Being a research student, I have never found any issues while having doubts as my professors were always there to help me.
Hostel: The hostel at Calicut University provides comfortable and adequately-sized rooms for students. The rooms have suitable furnishings, including beds, study desks, chairs, storage facilities, and appropriate lighting and ventilation. The hostel also has secure access control systems, CCTV cameras, fire safety measures, and emergency response systems.
Overall: When I started the course I was tense about whether I will land a job by the end of the course or not but studying at Calicut University was the best decision. I have completed my B.Com course from the university and by the end of the 6th semester I got placed in TCS with a decent package. Apart from a good placement, I learned a lot at the university. The teachers were good mentors. Talking about the fee structure it is very affordable and if not then you can apply for different scholarships that may help. I did not take any scholarships. The college campus is also nice with greenery around. Overall you can definitely keep Calicut Uni on your options list.
Placement: Placements are not very good, but there are several opportunities given to students. You can get a job if you skill yourself with different certifications as well. The placement cell is responsible for the process. For our batch companies like TCS came. I got placed with Rs 3 LPA. I plan to pursue higher studies after a year of experience at TCS.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure wise Calicut University has a beautiful campus and hooded roofs which ass to the beauty of CU. Separate departments are present. Also, the campus is so green. I loved it there. B.Com students are also given conference rooms to debate and group discussions.
Faculty: A lot of faculty at Calicut University are PhD holders. They provide amazing insight to the course and the industry revolving around it. I could get a job only because of the constant guidance from my teachers. Also, there is strict marking so you have to study hard.
Hostel: Hostel fees are around Rs 2000 per month. Separate hostels are available for men and women. Single and double occupancy rooms are there for male students and female students can choose between two-seater or four-seater rooms. I preferred the two-seater because I liked less interference.
Overall: I just finished my degree from Calicut University, and generally, I had a mixed experience. The campus is large, green, and well-kept, which is an added bonus. Students have access to plenty of resources, and the faculty are knowledgeable and helpful. Additionally, the university's population of students is diverse, which offers a great chance for intercultural interaction.
Placement: While our specific course does not offer job placements, there are abundant job opportunities available through various institutions. Avodha stands out as a leading recruiting company, providing valuable internships for students while they pursue their studies.
Infrastructure: A campus that is well-kept. A gorgeous place full of greenery. It was a satisfying experience. Pareeksha Bhavan and their services were a little slow but okay. Administrative services need to be paced up.
Faculty: The teaching quality is often above average, and faculty members work hard to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to be somewhat industry-ready. Although the course content needs to be revised for more accuracy, it provides students with useful knowledge of the business world and a certain level of experience.
Hostel: There is a reading area in each hostel building. A television and four different daily newspapers are available in these reading rooms. Wi-Fi networks that operate at high speeds are installed in every block. Single rooms are Rs. 175 while shared rooms are Rs. 80, which is a fair price for the hostel. The mess is run by students, and the mess cost is determined by dividing the entire bill among the users. Typically, the monthly mess bill is no more than Rs. 1500.
