Dakshin Dinajpur B.Ed College (DDBC), Dinajpur
Dakshin Dinajpur is inhabited by economically, educationally and socially backward people where percentage of job-holder is below five. Seventy percent of the population of the area is illiterate. Their main source of income is to migrate other states or hold hereditary small lands that are not sufficient to fulfill their minimum requirement..Approximately 14 to 15 thousand students completed graduation from seven colleges of the district, in contrast to this there is only two B.ED colleges so 95 percent graduate deprived from higher studies as they could not go other districts due to poor economic conditions. It is a matter of great sorrow that educated youths of the area who have passed Madhyamik, Higher Secondary and even graduation work in factories as day laborers or rickshaw pullers in other states. The pitiful condition shows its ugliest face when these young boys leave their home, parents, children, wives just to manage a square meal. Particularly those who migrate to places like Gurgaon in Haryana and work in crasher mills become victim of unknown diseases due to working in unhealthy environment. At one time they return home as an uninvited burden, unfit for work. They have no other option but to surrender to the cruel hand of death after some days. In this way hundreds of boys from this area have already died.
