In order to commemorate the Birth centenary (2000AD) of Dr. Syamaprasad Mukherjee,Ex-ViceChancellor,C.U. SIAE(Syamaprasad Institute Of Advanced Education) has been initiated and floated by distinguished social elites, academicians,industry stalwarts in assistance with Syamaprasad College, Kolkata, for augmentation of Technological 
Education and allied social services in the state of West Bengal. The SIET (Syamaprasad Institute of Education and Training) had started with the recognition and approval from NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) and affiliation from Calcutta University since 2007-08 sessions. The institute came into existence with itsauspicious inauguration on August 9, 2007. The mission of the college is "The SIET (Syamaprasad Institute of Education and Training), one amongst a conglomerate of forward-looking progressive institutions under the management of Syamaprasad Institute of Advanced Education (SIAE). This institute efforts on creating group of teachers, appropriately equipped with quality,competence and character, in a climate profusely permeated with freedom and flexibility, tolerance for plurality, singleness of purpose, who would prove themselvesincredibly excellent, and professionally robust and committed. The Institute radiates a culture that values achievement, moulds character, enriches mind and natures values. The institute also focuses on assessment of student’s learning as an important function of teacher education institution. SIET has put in place a systematic system for assessing its student’s performance in different subject areas and a host of non-cognitive areas.Performance is assessed on a continuous basis, and formative evaluation forms a building block for further improvement. All appraisals aims at improvement understanding one’s own strengths and weaknesses, understanding who has to be strengthened and identifying the next goals in the learning process."
