Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering was established in the year 2001-2002 and is a sister institute of the Indian Institute of Professional Education (IIPE). It is a private college, situated in Tambaram, Chennai. The college has been affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. It has been recognised by UGC and has also been approved by AICTE, New Delhi. DCE Chennai has been accredited by NAAC as well as NBA. It has also received the ISO 9001:2008 certification. The college has developed into a "Distinguished Centre for Engineering and Technological Studies," offering a peaceful environment to the students. In addition to providing the students with a high-quality engineering education that will help them become technologically sound, competent, and creative engineers, the college also helps them develop into responsible members of society. There are a total of 113 faculty members and the total enrolled students at the college is 1165.

The DCE Chennai courses are offered to interested candidates at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are a total of 8 courses offered to students in the stream of engineering and technology. All the courses are offered in offline, regular mode to the students. The DCE Chennai admission to these courses are offered on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the entrance exam along with the last qualifying exam. For admission to the B.Tech/BE course, candidates have to appear in the TNEA counselling. The candidates have to appear and qualify in the TANCET entrance exam to become eligible for the ME courses at the college.

The Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering campus is spread over an area of 13 acres with a variety of facilities accessible to the students such as well-stocked laboratories, modern classrooms, transportation facilities, hostels for both girls and boys, a fully-stocked canteen, medical facility as well as an auditorium. Additionally, there is a distinct placement cell, a training cell as well as a career development cell at the college. In order to provide students with training, the DCE Chennai placement cell collaborates with the training cell and career development cell. The DCE Chennai placement cell organises events like group discussions, aptitude, logical reasoning, analytical reasoning tests, computer programming tests, and technical interviews so that students can get adequate training prior to the final placement drive. The highest salary package offered to the students in DCE Chennai placements 2022 was Rs 7.0 Lakhs per annum and the lowest salary package offered was Rs 1.5-2.0 Lakhs per annum.

The industry is up to date in the practical world. The industry- institute collaboration will help in exchanging the academic knowledge of faculty and the practical experience of industry. The academic institution needs skill development and the industry needs academic knowledge. 

Hence we are interested in developing good relationship with the industry for exchanging knowledge and practical experience. 

By this industry- institute collaboration, academic staff will visit the industry and learn the current skills used by the industry. This experience gained by the faculty will be transmitted to the students. Also, the students will be trained by the experts in the industry. The students will be sent for internship to the companies so that they can gain industry exposure. The industry people will be invited to give guest lectures periodically. This exchange will ultimately help in developing the country both academically and industrially.
