Gauhati University B.Tech : Fees, Courses, Eligibility & Admission 2026

Overall: Gauhati University has the best IT department with top notch laboratories and faculties. On campus, extra-curricular activities were conducted. To showcase your skills you can also join clubs. The professors were top notch. The taught us the core subjects very intricately. Exams for the semesters were held as per schedule. You have to maintain an 80-90% attendance in both theory and practical classes. Overall, the university was a great place to study.

Placement: Around 60% students secured placements from our IT department. Many opted for higher studies as well. The average package was Rs 5 LPA. The highest package was around Rs 7 LPA. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Dell, L&T, etc. hired students.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities were great. A new library and auditorium are to be built along with several new buildings. The computer lab is excellent and is well updated with all the modern equipment and software. The canteen food was affordable, starting from Rs 20.

Faculty: The faculty team was highly competent in their respective fields. They were very supportive. The course material was pertinent to the college entrance exam. The semester exams were easy, there was a 100% pass rate. The teachers made sure that every student worked hard to pass the exams.

Hostel: The hostels were good. The quality of food was average and could have been better. Many facilities were available and there was also a common room. The fees were reasonable.

Overall: Gauhati University is a good choice for BTech for students of Assam. I completed my BTech ECE from the university 2018. My admission was based in JEE Main. But, students can apply through Assam CEE too. My course fee was INR 78,000.

Placement: BTech placements were average at our university. Most of my batch mates entered the IT sector after BTech. They received packages of around INR 4-5 lakhs. I decided to get admission to MTech.

Infrastructure: Our university has a big and sustainable campus. The entire campus is spread across 484 acres. There is also a botanical garden on 2 acres. Life on the campus is really soothing. I really enjoyed my campus days.

Faculty: Our teachers were experienced and well-behaved. They never expressed annoyance over any kind of academic query. They supported us through and through our academic journey.

Hostel: There are a total of 12 hostels for boys. Hostel accommodation at our university is quite affordable. Students can stay at hotels for as low as INR 3500. Research scholars have a separate hostel.

Overall: This college is allowed all of Student law's and the location of the college is so beautiful this college have a beautiful garden and a very big play ground.

Infrastructure: This college Infrastructure a very goodness for everyone to see if you have received this college Infrastructure that's you are so lucky because the College make a beautiful day.

Faculty: This college give all the students beautiful faculty for example give a hostel for rent of Student and all the best of girls or boys for both and this may .

Hostel: The hostel have a great beautiful hostel. The hostel give a very beautiful room for students and the hostel allowed only boy and girl both are available.

Overall: Overall the whole university was a pleasing experience with lot of memories that formed. I love the opportunities it provides and the faculties are very much supporting. I will really recommend this university. The "Krishna Surar Nogori" the university's Nickname. It will always be in my closest part of my heart.

Placement: As for my year the placement was quite decent everyone who put an effort got their placements. The faculties helped the students so that they get more exposure to more companies. The university help the student to be exactly ready to get the placement. APA a fresher I myself got a placement for 6 lakh per annum. It just depends how much you're interested to put in effort, if you put in you will get your placement easily.

Infrastructure: The already built in infrastructures are a legends of it's own and many are in the verge of building too. As for my department it was embedded with AC rooms with fine sitting arrangements. The scenery was nice. A good place to be around.

Faculty: As for my department the faculties were so supportive and were so friendly as if I didn't felt any barriers to ask questions. They respond very well too. They teach in a manner that everyone understands them. They push their limits and try that everyone understands them they also ask in which language you're comfortable in and then explains the topic on that language. They give regular assignment to check the growth of the student. Practical classes are done in a very good manner with projectors and each individual is given one computer. Overall all the faculties are one of a kind.

Hostel: The Hostel life is one of the lively moments in your life with all the ruckus and enjoyment and all the close bindings from all parts of Assam and beyond. No one will forget what this hostel life is the mess food is also decent unlike some hostels that offer not so eatable stuff. The rooms are decent and affordable. Overall it hits the mark.
