Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) offers admission to the BDes programme through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). The UCEED 2024 exam will be conducted in the month of January 2024 (tentatively) for admission into design courses by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. The institute is known for its BDes and MBA programmes offered on different campuses and was established in the year 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The main objectives of establishing the Footwear Design & Development Institute were to develop Human Resources within the country and to disseminate knowledge so that the industry witnesses rapid growth of footwear and allied industries.

FDDI also ensured the appropriate infrastructure for the development of international standards of footwear in our country. The students willing to be admitted to the BDes course will have to appear for the UCEED entrance examination which is commonly conducted by IIT Bombay for granting admission to all the IITs and FDDI. FDDI is playing a crucial role in imparting education and is significant in bridging the skill gap in the areas of the footwear and leather industry giving new dimensions to the Indian Industry. FDDI has been granted the status of  “An Institution of National Importance” under the FDDI Act 2017. The application form for BDes courses will be filled in an online mode and the notification will be released on the official website of FDDI very soon.

All About Common Entrance Examination for Design: The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a nationwide assessment organized by IIT Bombay under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. CEED aims to evaluate candidates' aptitude and design skills, serving as a qualifying entrance exam for MDes programs at various IITs, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IISc Bangalore, and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (IITDM Jabalpur).
