CEED Cutoff 2022 for Part A

Candidates are required to get the specified minimum percentage of marks according to their category to qualify for part A. CEED cutoff 2022 for Part A will be calculated as below

ParticularsCutoff Marks for Open category

Cutoff marks for ST, SC, PWD category

Cutoff marks for the OBC-NCL category
CEED Cutoff 2022µ + (σ 2) = δ, where µ and σ are the average marks and standard deviation of the distribution of marks scored by all the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2022.The cutoff SC, ST, PWD category will be 50% of the open category. The cutoff for OBC-NCL category candidates will be 90% of the open category.

CEED 2022 Cutoff Part B

Part B comprises a total of 5 questions of 100 marks. By using the formula given below, a normalised score ‘S’ will be calculated. Part-B answer books will be evaluated manually for candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of Part A.

S = {(m − μi) Σ / σi} + A, wherein

  • m= raw marks obtained in question i

  • μi = the average of the raw marks obtained by all candidates who attempt for the question i

  • σi = the standard deviation of the raw marks obtained by the candidates who answered the question i

  • A = 20 and Σ = 5 the average and the standard deviation, respectively, for the distribution of scores ‘S’. If the calculated ‘S’ score for any candidates is below 0, all such scores will be capped at 0, and if the calculated ‘S’ score for any candidate is above 40, all such scores will be capped at 40.

Marks obtained by the candidate in other questions in Part B will be added to ‘S’ for securing the part B score.

How is CEED 2022 Cutoff Calculated?

IIT Bombay has revised the method for calculating the cutoff for CEED 2022. The new formulae for the calculation of the CEED 2022 cutoff have been provided here. Check how the CEED cutoff is calculated now.

  • The marks obtained in Part-A of CEED will be used to shortlist candidates.
  • The cut-offs marks (X) for Part-A to shortlist candidates in the open category will be calculated using Y + (Z/2) = X, where Y and Z are the average marks and standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by all the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2022.
  • The values of Y and Z will be rounded off after the first decimal place.
  • The candidates belonging to the reserved categories will have to fulfil a relaxed cut-off mark.

Here is how the CEED 2022 cutoff for all categories will be calculated:

  • For OBC (non-creamy layer) - 0.9X
  • For EWS - 0.9X
  • For SC/ ST - 0.5X
  • For PwD - 0.5X

*where X is the cut-off mark for the open category

Factors Determining CEED Cutoff 2022

The following are some of the major factors that determine the CEED cutoff 2022 -

  • Number of candidates appearing for the exam
  • Number of candidates who qualify the exam
  • Number of seats available in the participating institutes
  • Difficulty level of the exam
  • Cut-off trend of previous years

Important Points to Remember

The CEED 2022 question paper is divided into Part A & B.

  • Part A will be a screening test for shortlisting candidates for Part B while Part B score will be used to prepare the merit list.
  • The merit list will also have both the opening as well as closing ranks of those who qualify for the counselling round.
  • The closing rank is what is considered as the CEED 2022 cut-off.
  • There will be a different cut-off for each participating institute of CEED 2022.
