Kohima Science College is one of the largest and best equipped science colleges in the state. This, being the only Science college, offering degree courses in the entire state till late nineties, has received ample funds from the state government to build an establishment that can cater to over a thousand students. Till date, it remains the largest science college in the state - its annual enrollment, including higher secondary sections, being one thousand two hundred. The imminent de-linking of higher secondary in the near future will significantly relieve the present constraints, and at the same time leave sufficient space for up gradation maneuvers. The institution is built on a hillock, originally, measuring 200 acres. Presently, three portions, about 50 acres altogether, have been carved out to house a Water Reservoir, Doordharshan Kendra, Kohima and Music Academy. There is still ample space for infra structural expansion. The library has a repository of 14636 books, referred scientific journals, national and international magazines. It has a host of local and national newspapers. It also has past exam question papers and project reports. The library has ten computers connected with high speed 2 Mbps broadband dedicated connection. the reading room is attached to the library. These facilities have been sponsored by the children of one of the founding fathers of the college, Lt. Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire. All academic departments, library, college office and computer lab are networked by 100 Mbps LAN with high speed 2 Mbps broadband connectivity through a secured client-server system. The entire academic campus is WiFi enabled (secured) through WiFi Hot spots including auditorium and college office. Students can surf the internet for research and knowledge resource through the terminals provided in the library and computer lab which are monitored by central server system for access of any unnecessary websites.
