One of the popular women's colleges in New Delhi, Vivekananda College was established by the Government of NCT Delhi in 1970 at the knowledge hub of Vivek Vihar in East Delhi. Its primary goal was to provide students in nearby communities including North East Delhi, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh with access to higher education. The college had just 300 students when it first started. Today, Vivekananda College offers undergraduate courses to nearly 2000 students. To accommodate the increasing number of students from the Trans Yamuna area, it has built a new academic building.

The college has a very active training and placement cell that makes sure all students receive suitable job opportunities, helping them be independent and successful in their careers ahead. Pre-placement activities including mock interviews, aptitude testing, career counselling, CV preparation, etc. are provided by the college's specialised training and placement cell. Some of the top recruiters visiting the Vivekananda College placements programme are HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, Cognizant, EY, Amul, Genpact, etc. The highest package offered to the students was Rs 19 LPA and the lowest package was Rs 3 LPA. • Interactive seminar on animation and multimedia with the help of Arena Animation and Multimedia. The seminar highlighted the importance of animation and multimedia and recruitment prospects in various industries.
• Motivational Interactive Talk by Manager, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr Manavi Sharma which was named ‘Gearing Up for the Corporate World’. 

The Vivekananda College alumni are placed in varied sectors like BPO, customer support and services, banking, ITES, healthcare, hospitality, software services, insurance, retail, news media, education and e-commerce.
