The College crest stands for an all round development in Arts, Science & Commerce. The circle of the emblem symbolizes the wholeness of life. The wheel inside represents the vocational studies & the sweeping progress in the field of Science & Technology. The book Speaks of man’s constant aspiration to dispel the darkness of ignorance by enlightening the Blazing lamp of knowledge & wisdom. It also shows the affiliation of the College to Fakir Mohan University. The boy & the girl holding aloft the torches of flame symbolizes the eternal march forward for enlightenment and freedom, which is our motto. “SA VIDYA YA BIMUKTAYE” is an extract from the “Rigveda” inscribed in the circle. The crest of institution thus beckons the students to various aspects of a glorious and successful life.Rural Institute of Higher Studies justifies its title as a torch bearer for the rural folks of Bhograi, to provide them the light of wisdom & knowledge. This fertile land has produced fertile Brain and intellect but paradoxically having no Alma mater of higher studies for a long time at initial stage (1980). The college starts functioning in the local defunct elementary training school with an initial capacity of 128 students. In 1981 the sanctioned strength in I. A. was extended up to 256 in +2 Arts & 128 in + 2 Science stream which got affiliation from the Higher Secondary Board in 1983. In 1986 +3 Degree course has been started with an initial capacity of 96 students. The management has also opned +3 Science with 80 seats (PCM 48 & CBZ - 32) along with +2 Commerce with 64 seats from the Session 1989-90 and it has been increased to 128 from 2004-05

Rural Institute of Higher Studies Placements
The R.I.H.S. College Library opens from on all working day. The institute Library contains books arranged in to different sections and subsections. The members of the staff and students may use the Library.
There are mainly two sections in the Library such as -
1. General Library
2. Lending Library
All sections of the Library remain under over all administrative control of the Principal. Lecturer in cahrge of the Library nominated by the Principal for a session, exercises an effective control in all matters relating to Library with the aid and advice of the Principal
