Sanatan Dharma College, Hoshiarpur was founded in 1973. Over a period of almost more than four decades,it has come into a great reckoning and has earned for itself a place of repute It continues to serve the community by providing relevant and wholesome education yo young men and women, while adding new dimensions everyday to its quest for excellence The virtuous men who laid the foundation of this college had a great dream This was to translate the values of Sanatan Dharma, the perennial religion of humanity, into the living truth of modern conditions. Late Pandit Amrit Anand Ji Bhrigu Shastri, Late Mahant Sewa Dass ji and Shri Chatar Bhushan Ji Joshi (Present Vice President) worked against forbidding odds to establish and nurture an institution of higher education that would send into the world, men and women of uncommon merit and mature humanity. Under the inspiring leadership and able guidance of the third illustrious President and Secretary of the College Managing Committee, Maa Sneh Amrit Anand ji and Late Sh. G. D. Malhotra ji, the college took giant strides in becoming one of the most sought after Post-graduation institutions of the region. Both these luminaries strived hard to introduce professional courses like PDGCA, BCA and B.Sc. (Bio-Technology) in the college. In addition to these coveted courses, they were instrumental in adding vocational subjects like Computer Applications and Fashion Designing in Arts Stream. It paved the way for art students to compete with their counter-parts n other professional streams. In order to provide infrastructure for these courses, a Post-graduate Block comprising six spacious classrooms, three State of the Art Computer Labs, an ultra-modern gymnasium and a Health Care Centre were erected under the aegis of these two visionaries. They were also the motivating force behind the smooth and successful conduct of the zonal Youth Festival and NAAC accreditation of the college during the year 2005- 2006. Under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Hema Sharma Ji, Bhrigu Shastri (President) and Sh. Vijay Kumar ji Malhotra (Secretary), the great dream today meets its fulfilment in our students who occupy coveted positions In diverse fields of work . Affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, S.D. College imparts instruction for graduation in commerce. Humanities, Bio-technology, Computers and Business Administration with honour in E-Commerce and Post- Graduation in Commerce and Computers,Sports and extra-Curricular over all development, complement academic pursuit. Also, a “Havana” Is performed on Sankranti of every  month to inculcate moral values based on Sanatanist ideals.
