VES Institute of Management Studies and Research - VESIMSR
Late Shri Hashu Advani was a visionary who chose education to build a strong nation. He felt the compelling need to build an institution, which makes education accessible to students from all strata of society and inculcates high moral values in them. It was his inspirational vision that laid the foundation of Vivekanand Education Society (VES) in the year 1962.
Big thinking indeed precedes great achievements. Today, the society runs 21 educational institutions offering courses from Pre-primary to Ph.D. The journey that started with 256 students in 1962 has now expanded to accommodate more than 20000 students, who are taking various courses across these 21 institutes. Addressing the rising importance of corporate governance and the need for global management education, the VES Institute of Management Studies and Research (VESIM) came into being in the year 1994.
VESIM is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and has received ‘A grade’ certification from Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) – Govt. Of Maharashtra. The courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Since its inauguration, VESIM with its proven pedagogy, multi disciplinary approach, state-of-the- art facility, outstanding faculty members and industry experts has produced several distinguished corporate leaders. We are dedicated to transforming each student into a future-ready manager and a global citizen with a rewarding career.
A strong interface is necessary with the corporate world to understand their needs and provide the right inputs to the students. Keeping that in view, many initiatives are taken at VESIM. Industry persons are regularly invited as ‘Guest Speakers’ where they share their valued inputs with students. Also, expectations of the industry become clearer to students and it helps them to realign them with the expectations of the industry. In addition to that, various events are organized where experts from the industry working in different domains like Marketing, Operations, Logistics & Supply Chain Management interact with students. These interactions are organized in all the specializations so as to get the relevant inputs from real world scenario. Few to name these are ‘HR Summit’ for HR students, ‘Fintelligence’ for Finance students and ‘Congruence’ for Marketing and Operations students.
Full support and guidance are provided to the students for their ‘Final’ as well as ‘Summer’ Placements. As general feedback from industry points out towards improvement in soft skills, special care is taken for students to be prepared in this aspect. Help of external agency is taken to impart training in ‘Communication’ skills. Special focus is given to impart inputs on ‘Grooming’ and ‘Corporate Etiquettes’. Students are also provided guidance as how to face ‘Interviews’ and ‘Group Discussions’ more confidently and effectively. Further, inputs are also provided on ‘Resume’ writing and resume of students are fine-tuned by the trainers on individual basis. This training has proved significant as students are better prepared to face the selection process at time of ‘Placements’.
