The candidate must be registered for regular and full-time M.Phil./Ph.D. studies at UGC-recognized universities, institutes, and colleges. Fellowship amount: For JRF/SRF, the fellowship is INR 25000/28000 per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per regulations.
The institutes covered under National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students are as follows. Candidates should apply for regular and full-time M.Phil/Ph.D. courses at these institutions:
i. Universities/institutions/colleges listed in sections 2(f) / 12(B) or 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.
ii. Deemed to be universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and eligible for UGC grants-in-aid.
iii. Central/State Government-funded universities/institutions/colleges;
iv. Nationally important institutes.
All qualified students who have been admitted on merit to the recognized premier institutes and are validated by the Institute and Ministry following the scheme's guidelines are eligible for the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students. There is no ceiling for the number of places by institute, state, or stream.
A research scholar can transfer his or her fellowship from one university to another as part of National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students program. However, this requires prior approval from both the applicant's original university and the new university to which he or she wishes to transfer the fellowship.
