To apply for TOEFL, ETS provides candidates with a convenient online system to register for the test and also lets them know about all the registration methods before applying for the test. Candidates can register for the test using either their ETS account, phone or mailing services to a Regional Registration centre (RRC) in India. Before registering for the TOEFL iBT, one should know the fees, accepted forms of payment and policies for payment and use the name that matches their identification they bring on the test day.
While registering for TOEFL 2021, the most important thing to keep in mind is the timing as it is conducted over 60 times in a given year. It is recommended that applicants pick a date that is at least 2 to 3 months before the earliest deadline and register around 4 months before their desired test date.

Before you start registering for TOEFL, it is always a good idea to confirm a few things so that the entire process of registration is hassle free. Also, it will prevent you from taking decision in haste like cancelling, rescheduling etc once the registration process is done successfully.

Step by step process to register for TOEFL is explained below:
Visit the official website of Educational Testing Services (ETS).
Create your ETS account and enter all the information exactly as asked, create username and password, and submit.
Pick a test centre and date to find out the available test centres, after which you can choose the time that would be convenient for you.
Complete your registration/application process by finishing the remaining steps as they appear, select the universities to which you wish to send your score, purchase a test prep (if you want) and pay the registration fee.
While registering, you must be mindful of the following:
At least one form of identification is required before registering for the test, which has the exact same name as you would be mentioning in the registration form.
Pay the TOEFL registration fee using a debit or credit card (Mastercard, American Express, VISA, Discover, JCB, Diners Club) or any other mode of payment.
You can register up to 2 days before the chosen test date. However, a late fee of $40 would be applied if you register only 7 days before the test.

In case you do not receive any confirmation email, call the location where you mailed the required documents at least three days before the deadline for the registration. You can also reschedule your registration at least four days before the test date by paying a fee of US$60, which should be paid before registering for the test again.

TOEFL 2021 Payment Policies
Candidates applying for TOEFL 2021 should abide by the following guidelines while completing the payment of the TOEFL 2021 Registration:
It must be paid in full.
If paying by money order or check, they should have the correct numeric and written dollar amount.
It should have any necessary signature(s).
You should not have any outstanding balance from previous tests administered by ETS. If any, the same must be paid in full before your registration for the test.
TOEFL 2021 Refund Policies
In order to receive a refund, applicants must cancel his/her registration by a given deadline which is outlined as - four days before the test date.
For those students who cancel the TOEFL 2021 test within four days of the test, only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded.
Candidates will be given a full refund in case the test is not administered at the designated test center and they do not wish to reschedule.
Refunds along with travel expenses (if any) will be initiated in case ETS cancels the conduct of the test at a test center or cancels scores after the test. The same would be notified within 30 days of the original test date and refunds will be in USD.
Cash refunds for the TOEFL test are not available.
Refunds will not be issued if candidates did not follow the necessary registration procedures or if they did not produce the required ID.
Refunds will be credited back to the original account if the candidate used a credit/debit card or e-check to pay.
It will take approximately 8 weeks for refunds to be processed in case the payment was made with a personal check.
Refunds will not be processed for services other than registration.
Once the TOEFL registration process is completed successfully, you will receive a confirmation email. Make sure you have entered a valid email ID while registering for TOEFL.
Confirm the test date, test time, and address of the test center by sending an email ID. The same can also be checked on the ETS account.
You must log in to the ETS account regularly to confirm that there is no update of the test schedule, timing, or test center.
