Central University of South Bihar Gaya is one of 54 such federal government universities that fall under the authority of the Department of Higher Education within the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. The CUSB campus is 300 acres big and hosts all the important university buildings.
The Central Universities Act, 2009 (Section 25 of 2009) established it as the Central University of Bihar (CUB), and then the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2014 altered its name to Central University of South Bihar (CUSB).
The CUSB Gaya is recognised by UGC. In addition to qualified faculty members, a high teacher-student ratio, and baskets full of elective courses in various programmes, the university provides a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with the total internal evaluation of students' performance at the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) levels.

Hostel Facilities: The Central University of South Bihar offers hostel facilities for its PG and UG students on the first come first serve basis. Students who need hostel accommodation need to apply by paying the hostel fees along with caution money which comes down to a total of Rs 15000 per semester. After the first & second semester the hostel fees becomes Rs 12000 per semester.
Library: Central University of South Bihar has built a well-equipped Central Library to meet the information needs of students and teachers for academic success. The library has amassed a collection of over 31,000 books to support academic curriculum, teaching, and research and encyclopaedia research in a variety of science and social science disciplines handbooks, various reports, dissertations, bound volume journals, newspapers, and its derivatives, archival materials, etc. All of the books are barcoded and grouped on shelves using the Dewey Decimal system. Every computer in the University is equipped with the Digital Library.
Health Centre: The CUSB has a health centre on campus that will treat general illnesses under the supervision of resident doctors.
Vidyarthi Mediclaim Policy: Vidyarthi Mediclaim for Students is a medical coverage offered by National Insurance Company that covers students' health and personal accidents. All students at the Central University of South Bihar are covered under this scheme, which allows them to receive cashless care in authorised hospitals as well as reimbursement of treatment costs (IPD) in other hospitals up to Rs 50,000.
Psychological Counselling and Guidance Services: The CUSB takes a proactive approach, providing psychological counselling and guidance services to students, teachers, and employees. Innovative programmes such as 'Crises Intervention Programmes' and 'Community Mental Health Programmes' are in the works. The motto 'Learning Together' is promoted and implemented to facilitate learning.
Career Counselling and Placement Cell: CUSB Gaya has a Career Counselling and Placement Cell that handles campus placements and job possibilities for students enrolled in various courses offered by various centres and departments.
University Computer Centre: The institution currently has about 386 computers. To meet academic requirements, all computers are outfitted with the most recent operating systems and application software. Firewall and antivirus software protect computers. CUSB has access to a variety of academic applications, including SPSS, MATLAB, MINITAB, Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXPress, Admin console, KOHA, AMBER, and Accelrys. In the event of a power outage, the CUSB has a DG station as a backup. Furthermore, many vital application systems are powered by local UPS systems.
Internet/ Intranet: Internet access is offered through the Government of India's National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) project. All PCs are linked to the Internet through a 1 Gbps connection. The intranet network, which is made up of gigabit Ethernet and an OFC backbone, connects departments/centres, libraries, classrooms, and administration. CISCO's world-class networking gear has been implemented in the campus network to enable robust and trouble-free computing.
