Hostels, a canteen, cooperative shops, a language lab, a centre for scientific computing, service coaching, a college chapel, lecture rooms, and other amenities are available at CMS College campus for the use of its students, instructors, and staff. Brief descriptions of the amenities provided by CMS College are provided below.

  • Gym: The students at the college have access to a modern gym.
  • Library: The library has a built-up area of 21,786 square feet, which includes the General Library, PG Library, Reference Section, and IT Zone. Currently, there are 69,000 volumes, 63 journals, and 40 periodicals in the collection. The issue and return of books are computerised, and books have bar codes. Around 300 walk-ins occur on a daily average.
  • Sports: CMS College has world-class athletic facilities, including a basketball court, volleyball court, badminton court, hockey rink, swimming pool, and a fully-stocked gymnasium.
  • Cafeteria: The CMS College canteen meets the needs of the employees and students by offering wholesome meals at very affordable costs. A committed Canteen Committee keeps an eye on the administration.
  • Auditorium: A significant location in Central Travancore's cultural history is the Great Hall of CMS College campus. French Adams, the principal, was the one who proposed building a hall to host meetings for the entire institution. As a result, construction began in 1892 and was finished in slightly more than a year. The Hall, at the time the largest auditorium in Central Travancore, could accommodate 500 people. The Great Hall hosted a large number of public events in Central Travancore, hence it was at one time the Town Hall as well.
  • IT Infrastructure: 184 computers are made available throughout the college. 128 of them are connected on LAN via underground Optical Fibre Cable. 15 laptops are provided to the Departments. Wi-Fi facility is provided in all departments. A full-time system administrator looks after the IT facilities.
  • Classrooms: The best technology infrastructure is available at CMS College campus to assist its teaching and research operations, including classrooms with LCD projectors and smart boards.
  • Laboratories: The college provides student access to department-based laboratories.
  • Convenience Shop: One aspect that makes the cooperative store appealing is the discounted rates on books and writing supplies. The workers and students make good use of the photocopying equipment at the store. Additionally, it provides spiral binding and document lamination services. The campus is home to the Kottayam North Post Office.
  • Banking Facilities: The State Bank of Travancore has a branch on the college campus, along with an ATM machine.

CMS Kottayam Hostel Details

The Lea Hostel: The Lea hostel – named after Rev. Philip Lea, the last British Missionary Principal of the CMS college, continues to be a home away from home for the generations of women students who have stayed here through the courses of their study here. A little away from the main campus of the college, the Lea Hostel is a safe and secure refuge where young girls learn not only to secure the degrees that would enable them to earn their livelihood but also the science and art of living in peace and harmony with their fellow human beings, of becoming empowered young women well able to look after themselves and others. Prof Miss M. K. Mary of the Department of Mathematics served as the warden of the hostel throughout her period of active academic service. Even after retiring from the College, she stayed on as the warden of the hostel till 2006. The Lea Hostel continues to follow the traditions set by Miss Mary, under the efficient wardenship of Mrs Elsamma Joseph and the guidance of the committee comprising of women faculty members.

Ella Hostel: The Ella hostel is named after Mrs Elizabeth Ella Bailey, wife of Rev. Benjamin Bailey the first missionary principal of the college. It started functioning in the year 2012. This hostel was built to accommodate post-graduate students. Mrs Susan Thomas serves as the warden under the guidance of a committee comprising women faculty members.

Askwith Hostel: The men’s hostel of the college named after its former Principal Rev. Francis Navel Askwith was established in 1914. The hostel facility is enjoyed by PG students and sports students of the college on a fifty-fifty sharing basis as per an agreement of the College with the Sports Council of Kerala. Dr Jackson V. Paul and Dr Ravikumar C serve as wardens.
