NEET PG cut
NEXT or National Exit Test is a common exit exam conducted to promote meritorious medical students to practice medicine in their respective fields or even pursue higher education. As part of being an exit exam, NExT is also the common gateway to attaining a license to practice medicine across India. NExT Step 1 exam will be held in December 2023 tentatively. It will replace NEET PG and FMGE exams from 2024 onwards.
The National Medical Commission (NMC), in its new draft, announced that the test will be held in two stages respectively: NExT step 1 and NExT step 2. While NExT step 1 will be a centralized common all-India examination comprising MCQ-type questions, NExT Step 2 will be a Clinical/ practical examination along with Viva Voce covering seven clinical subjects/disciplines. Candidates can attempt the NExT exam as many times as necessary. There is no restriction around the same.
As of now, no official announcement regarding who will be the exam conducting body for the test has been made. As per a few media reports, the National Board of Examination is considered to be the front-runner as it is already conducting NEET PG and FMGE exams. FMGE 2023 Application Form is expected to be released in the month of March 2023. Students need to visit the official website of the National Board of Education (NBE) in order to participate in the FMGE Registration process 2023. FMGE Screening Test is a national-level exam that enables aspiring foreign medical graduates to continue their post-graduation in India. As per the FMGE 2023 Eligibility Criteria, students can sit for the exam after their undergraduate degree and certification from relevant authorities is required in order to appear for the FMGE exam and get admission in premier medical institutions around the country in courses such as MD/MS/PG Diploma/post-MBBS DNB/ NBE.
The conducting body has provided the opportunity to upload all the required documents in the FMGE application form till the last week of March 2023 (tentatively).
