August 07, 2025New Academic Bank of Credits Policy Implemented - Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University has adopted the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) policy from the Current Academic Year 2024-25, as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) (Establishment of Academic Bank of Credits in Higher Education), Regulations,2021. This policy aims to enhance credit transfer and academic flexibility for students. Under this policy, the University will deposit credits earned by students into their Academic Bank Accounts, as per UGC norms. Credits earned from UGC-recognized platforms like SWAYAM, NPTEL, V-Lab, etc., will be considered for transfer, subject to review by the University’s Equivalence Committee. Credits in the ABC will remain valid for up to 7 years for the award of Degrees, Diplomas, or Certificates. Students may opt to earn credits from other UGC-registered HEIs, which the University will recognize under ABC guidelines. The University may also award qualifications based on credits earned beyond the curriculum, provided they meet the total credit requirements. Students must earn at least sixty (60) percent of the credits from the University awarding the Degree or Diploma or Certificate to qualify.
