George Brown College was established as Ontario's Community College in 1967. It is a public college with fully accredited programs at the college of applied arts and technology. George Brown College is one of the leading and most popular colleges among international and national students. The college operates under the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in the Ontario province. The programs at GBC including the certificates, diplomas and degrees are governed by the Government of Ontario. It is a member of CIC i.e. Colleges and Institutes in Canada. George Brown College has affiliations from CCAA, ACCC, AUCC, CBIE, CUP, POLYTECHNICS CANADA. George Brown has a world ranking of 4654, and in 2014 it was 3rd best college for researchers in Canada. Also, it is considered as the Top employer for Toronto.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The George Brown College has 3 campuses in downtown Toronto, namely, Casa Loma Campus, St. James Campus and Waterfront Campus. The Casa Loma is the main campus of George Brown College. It has a maximum green space with 5 buildings within the campus. The Waterfront Campus is the latest addition to the campuses list. It was opened in 2012.George Brown College offers 160 full-time programs including diploma, certificates, advanced diplomas and degrees. It also offers 8 bachelor degree programs in association with Ryerson University. The most popular programs are Art and Design, Business, Community Services, Engineering and Health Sciences.

Accomplishments & Alumni

George Brown College has donated three ventilators and a significant amount of personal protective equipment (PPE) to Toronto hospitals and health care facilities to help protect front-line medical workers in the fight against COVID-19. George Brown College Alumni Community has more than 225,000 alumni from around the world. Some of the well-known alumni are Katherine Barrell actress and writer, Samantha Bee Comedian, John Henry a politician, Mark McEwan Celebrity Chef, Gigi Gorgeous YouTuber and many more.

As of the 2019-20 fall intake, it holds an enrolment of 35000+ full-time students. It has 5500+ international students representing over 95 countries from around the world. The largest number of international students comes from none other than INDIA. George Brown College enjoys a great network of employers. It has an employment rate of 95% with 92% of employers being satisfied with the GBC graduates. For International Students

Current International Students at George Brown College have the opportunity to be considered for scholarships of different values after the first year of study. Those interested in availing a scholarship at George Brown College, then check out the following list of scholarships and the information for the same.

George Brown College Degree Scholarships

Returning students of George Brown College can avail one of the 31 scholarships on offer for Diploma/Degree scholarships offered by the college, which have been outlined below:

Value:

  • Fall Competition: 14 Scholarships worth $5,000 and 17 scholarships worth $1,000 are available.
  • Winter Competition: 6 Scholarships worth $5,000 and 9 scholarships worth $1,000 are available.

Deadline:
Candidates interested in applying for the scholarships must apply by certain deadlines. The deadlines for both Fall and Winter competitions have been outlined below.

  • Fall Competition: 30th September
  • Winter Competition: 31st January

It shall be noted that the candidates receiving the scholarships will only be the one’s to receive the notification for the same.

Eligibility:

  • International students with a valid Study Permit are eligible for the scholarships.
  • They must be registered for a 2 / 3 / 4-year diploma or degree programme offered by George Brown College.
  • Only returning candidates will be eligible, therefore, those wishing to avail the scholarship must have completed 2 semesters prior to the current semester, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
  • Candidates who have participated in activities that contributed to other students, their department or the College community in general will only be considered for the scholarships.
  • Candidates must ensure that they have not received any scholarships previously from the George Brown College International Centre.

Application Process: Candidates aspiring to avail the scholarships must ensure that they apply for the same online, through their website, i.e. STU-VIEW.
