Government Polytechnic - GP

This institute was established in the year 1956 by the Adimjati Shiksha Ashram to provide technical education to the students of the North-Eastern States. The Government of Manipur took over the institute in 1972 from the said Ashram and renamed it as the Government Polytechnic, Imphal. Since its inception, the institute has been running Three years Diploma courses in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering to train the youths of Eastern region. Later on, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Diploma in Pharmacy were introduced in the year 1994-95 and 1995-96 respectively.

ELANGBAM SAMU SINGH AWARD:-

This award is given to the overall topper of the Three years Diploma Engineering in memory of our (Late) Lecturer Elangbam Samu Singh of the Mechanical Department. It consist of a Gold Medal and a certificate.

Master Craftsman SADOKPAM IBOMCHA SINGH AWARD:-

This award is given to the overall topper (amongst the Girl students) of the Three years Diploma Engineering in memory of our Master Craftsman SADOKPAM IBOMCHA SINGHof the Workshop Department. It consists of a Gold Medal and a certificate.

NAMARAM GULAMJAT SINGH AWARD:-

This award is given to the overall class toppers of the First Year, Second Year and Third Year of the Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering in memory of SHRI NAMARAM GULAMJAT SINGH. It consists of a Cash award of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) each and a certificate.
