J B College Overview

Jagannath Barooah College (abbreviated JB College) was established on 19 August, 1930. It is an autonomous college, situated in Jorhat, which is a city and one of the important urban center in the state of Assam, India. JB College is affiliated with Dibrugarh University and accredited with UGC (University Grant Commission). In 2003, It was accredited by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and awarded “B+” grade on the behalf of its performance in the area of higher education. The college provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) programs. It also offers postgraduate programs in different specializations including Geography, Philosophy, Assamese, Political Science, Commerce and Computer Application. The college is well-equipped with all the modern facilities including Library, Hostel, Canteen, Sports, Laboratory and Medical.

Students Achievements :

  • Combined Annual Training Camp was held at PTC, Dergaon from 16th Aug. to 25th Aug.  2013 and a number of 6 cadets participated in it. Cadet Sahidullah won the best shooter award.(NCC)
  • CATC was held at CKB Commerce College from 18th Dec.to 27th Dec., 2013 and 12 cadets participated in it. Lt. S.S. Regan, ANO participated in the CATC and delivered lectures during the camp sessions. In this camp U/O Satyajit Baruah won the 2nd Best Drill Award, U/O Biswajit Hazarika won the Best in Discipline Award and Masum Gogoi won the Best Attendance in  class award.(NCC)
  • U/O Dinesh Bonia attended a Trekking Camp held at Lekhapani, Tinsukia from 3rd JAN to 14TH JAN, 2014 .He was honoured with Santi Sena Award for his good discipline in the camp.

Dear Student,

The cutoff details of JB Johart College are not available at the moment. However, the subject-wise qualifying marks required in Class 12th to get admission in B.Sc Botany are as follows -

Name of the Subject Marks Required in Class 12th
Biology 60%
Chemistry 55%
English 45%

The college will prepare a merit list on the basis of marks obtained in the above three subjects. The total marks scored in each subject will be aggregated and an average score will be derived to prepare the merit list. Therefore, cutoff marks are not the same every year.
