K.K. Das College - KKDC Kolkata - KKDC
K. K. Das College, originally known as K. K. Das College of Commerce was established in 1964. Since its inception it had been functioning from the premises of Dinabandhu Andrews College, Garia and presently the college has been shifted to its present address. This college was named after Late Kamini Kumar Das, a doctor. The requisite fund for starting the college was generously provided by the members of his family. It was started as a commerce college in the area and provided opportunities to the students of the neighbourhood who wanted to pursue undergraduate commerce education. The college has recently been diversified. It has become a multi-faculty co-education college from the academic session 2001-02. The college now offers Honours courses in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Bengali, English and History. To cope up with the diversification and to set a new pace of development, the highest priority was laid on the construction of college building of its own. To that end, a plot of land has been procured from KMDA at Baishnabghata-Patuli on the Garia connector of Eastern Metropolitan Bye-Pass. The foundation stone of the proposed college building at the new site was laid on 15th February 2001 by Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal. The funds from MPLAD, MLA Fund, UGC, collection of funds from Blood Donation Camp, cultural programmes, personal donations, contribution from teachers, non-teaching staff, students and cooperation from all quarters have made it possible to complete the construction of the first two floors of the college building. It is a matter of great pleasure to all of us that the new college building has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Former Chief Minister of West Bengal on 3rd March, 2008. The college has been fully shifted to its own building at Plot No. GRH-17, Baishnabghata-Patuli, P.O. – Garia, Kolkata – 700084 and currently it is functioning as a DAY COLLEGE from its new premises.
