Maulana Azad College Reviews

C
Placid in tone, but beneficial for few who seek the same.

Overall: If one is willing to have a college life focused solely on academics and devoid of much cultural activities, political chaos and events, this is probably a good choice.

Placement: With exception of B.A Economics, placements are not much expected. With UGC's recent mandate on internships for graduation students (irrespective of their choice of stream) Professors do their best in informing students about possible internship opportunities.

Infrastructure: With few exceptions like St.Paul's College and Scottish Church, majority of the colleges under C.U. fail miserably to offer a campus life. But, Maulana Azad College surprisingly has a simple yet elegant college building. To note, there are no lifts, play grounds or designated indoor play rooms.

Faculty: Since this is a government college, no matter how good the faculty is, the onus is on the student to make use of them and the resources. The H.O.D of English Literature is Professor Parimal Bhattacharya. He is also a renowned writer with books like 'No path in Darjeeling is straight' published by Harper Collins. Professor Pritha Chakraborty will be your favourite surely. The way she manages to be welcoming yet keeping the intricacies of the subject intact, is commendable.

Hostel: But CU affiliated hostels (like Baker's hostel) are available easily to students on the basis of merit and the distance of their home from college. Recently a girl's hostel is opened for the students of Maulana Azad College. The fees of these government hostels are negligible.

Overall: I don't even know i will experience college life like a wisdom and this college made to experience that by pushing me to participate in different activities and faculty members are very friendly to all the students so no one will never feel hesitate to reach them.

Placement: The placements are good but very much paid there in a range of 15-20 K salaries. Our university. Around 80-85% placement but in mass recruiting companies or start ups. Internships were also provided to us in first and second year in summers.

Infrastructure: My college is composed with wonderful infrastructure like fully furnished classrooms and huge parking facility for all students and staff, And my college is fully eco friendly to the environment and n number of indoor games are available

Faculty: Supportive professors and faculty members with fantastic academic and research exposure. Practical approach is used for teaching by the faculty members. Research papers are given to us as a part of our experiential learning.

Hostel: The hostel is closed off everyday between 11am and 2pm for cleaning but the owners are very flexible on that rule, just inform them first if you need to get some stuff done, but anyway at that time you should be exploring with your friends. Hostel life changed me a lot.

Overall, the college's facilities were instrumental in providing a holistic educational experience, combining academic excellence with opportunities for personal growth and development.

Hostel: The college hostel provides a comfortable and convenient living arrangement for students, especially those coming from out of town. One of the best aspects of the hostel is its sense of community. Living in close proximity to fellow students fosters a sense of camaraderie and friendship, making the hostel feel like a home away from home.
