NSOU PhD Eligibility Criteria

To pursue a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree at Netaji Subhas Open University Kolkata, aspiring candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria. Firstly, candidates should have completed a Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. Additionally, they must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade) in their Master's program. However, a relaxation of 5% is provided for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled categories. Furthermore, candidates need to qualify in the entrance examination conducted by the university, which assesses their research aptitude and subject-specific knowledge. Successful candidates in the entrance examination will be called for an interview, and final selection will be based on their performance in both the entrance test and interview.
