It is only human to get nervous when facing a tough examination such as CMAT 2023. It becomes very important in such a scenario to keep a clear head and tackle the question paper methodically.

There are many Master of Business Administration (MBA) aspirants who are unable to get a good score on the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) despite putting in a lot of hard work. Even after studying the best books to prepare for CMAT and following the best preparation tips, they are just not able to get the CMAT results that they want.
Most of the time, you find students blaming their luck for their poor score. However, more often, the real reason behind this is how they tackle the CMAT question paper. Candidates often forget that getting a good score in CMAT 2023 is not all about preparation. It also requires knowledge of how to approach the CMAT question paper.

Getting Nervous When Approaching CMAT 2023 Question Paper
Candidates with basic preparation but a positive approach are sometimes able to score higher than their colleagues who have prepared well but get nervous in the examination hall. Many of my friends have told me how they have sometimes struggled with doing even basic calculations when faced with the question paper.
If you are at such a point, your ability to control your nerves becomes more important than knowing any theorem or formula. It is also what makes the difference between scoring average and scoring good in Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).
How to Regain Your Calm Before CMAT 2023
Each student has their own rituals and beliefs that they use to calm their minds and get in the zone before approaching the question paper. For some saying a prayer works, for others, it can be eating 'dahi cheeni' (sweet yoghurt) in breakfast but it is not always limited to that.
I like to have a drink of water and use the washroom and spend some time on my seat before the examination starts. It helps me cut off from everything else, clear my thoughts and get in the zone. This is another reason why I like to reach the examination centre early.
The point is, follow whatever rituals you have to calm yourself before the exam, even if it might seem silly to others. However, this should not serve as a replacement for sitting down to study and investing your time and effort in practising and getting better at solving CMAT 2023 questions.

7 Best Tips to Beat CMAT 2023
Here, we have compiled some of the best tips to help you beat CMAT 2023 and get a good score.
1. Prepare Well
Ensure that you are following an ideal preparation strategy for CMAT 2023, which gives you ample time. It is also advisable to revise the important topics for CMAT 2023 such as the important formulas, calculation shortcuts etc. On a similar note, do not start a new topic at the last moment as that can cause confusion on the exam day.
2. Reach the Centre Before Time
When you are on schedule, it takes a lot of mental pressure off. It is always advisable to reach the examination centre early to have enough time to deal with any emergencies and avoid the last-minute rush, especially in the times of COVID-19.
3. Read the Questions Carefully
It is suggested that one must not be in a hurry while inside an exam hall. So, stay calm and read the questions thoroughly. Divide the questions into sets of two-three in order of your ease in attempting them. Manage your time well and try not to spend much time on a single question itself.
4. Start With the Comfortable Section
It is always advisable to start the test with the section you are most comfortable with. Solving 2-3 easy questions at the beginning of the test is a good way to give yourself a confidence boost and warm-up for the more difficult ones. Once you attempt the comfortable part, you get enough time to think upon the other sections.
5. If in Doubt, Leave it Out
When in doubt about the correct answer to a question, it is best to mark it and leave it for the end. The time you spend on solving that question would be time wasted if you are able to solve two other questions in the same span. Remember that you get equal marks to solve the easiest question and the most difficult one.
6. Revise
Go through the question paper at the end of the test and try to solve as many of the questions that you initially left out. Some of these may prove to be easier to solve after coming back to them. If there is time left, it can also be helpful to go through your answers once and chalk out any silly mistakes. Remember that changing every incorrect answer to correct will add 5 marks to your score.
