To pursue a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai, aspiring candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university, with a minimum aggregate score of 55% or its equivalent grade. However, a relaxation of 5% is provided for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PWD categories. Additionally, applicants must have completed a research-based M.Phil. program from a recognized university or an integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. program with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Candidates with a professional degree (such as LL.M., M.Ed., M.S.W., etc.) or a postgraduate diploma with a minimum of 55% marks are also eligible to apply. The final selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation process, including a written test, personal interview, and research proposal presentation.
