Tura Polytechnic was started in 2003 under the world bank assisted project tech. ed. III. Initially it was housed at govt. boys higher secondary school tura from 2003 to 2005 before shifting to its present location at cherangre near tura public school. The first principal of this institute was Mrs. Babina T. Sangma from 2003 to 2007. The polytechnic provides facilities for study in diploma courses in Engineering after H.S.L.C. (10+). The main objectives of the polytechnic courses of studies are to produce technician at supervisory level to meet the demand of Technician manpower in various fields of development. Due emphasis has been given to students both boys and girls to develop entrepreneurial skills in the respective field of study, to promote industry, institute, community interaction to promote teaching learning process through the learning resources utilization center and computer center. Mission of Tura Polytechnic is 'to foster critical analysis by training students both in theory and practice so as to equip them with skills needed for facing global challenges with team work and human values. And to build quality network with the Industry, educationists and the society for exchanging knowledge'. The modern teaching methodology assists the students in getting an all around view of engineering, technology and the entrepreneur world. The diligent faculty team of the college possesses hands-on experience and up to date knowledge of their subject and area of expertise.
