September 05, 2025The IIT JAM 2026 application process has started at jam2026.iitb.ac.in for aspirants of M.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc.–PhD programmes. Candidates can register until October 12, 2025, and the entrance test is scheduled to take place on February 15, 2026.

August 28, 2025GATE 2026 registration is now open at gate2026.iitg.ac.in for admission to M.Tech and research programs. Candidates can submit their applications without a late fee until September 28, 2025, while the deadline with a late fee is October 9, 2025. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, in two sessions.
August 25, 2025The GATE 2026 registration has been postponed to August 28, 2025. Regular applications close on September 28, with late submissions accepted until October 9. Exams will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, and results on March 19.
About NIT Meghalaya
NIT Meghalaya or National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is one of the pioneer institutes of our country to impart knowledge in various fields of Information and Technology. Established in 2010, the NIT Meghalaya is one of the 31 NITs in India to have been declared Institutes of Importance under the NIT Act 2007 of the Parliament of India. The institute has since been functioning from its old campus in Shillong, with total funding support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIT Meghalaya achieved a rank of 68th in the engineering category in 2024 whereas it was ranked 72 in the NIRF rankings 2023 with a score of 47.27.
NIT Meghalaya aims at imparting quality education to bright students in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The institute currently offers B.Tech/BE programmes in five specialisations- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering; M.Tech/ME in five specialisations same as B.Tech, M.Sc in three subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and doctoral degree in various streams of Science, Engineering and Humanities. The B.Tech/BE programme is for 4 years, M.Tech/M.E is for 2 years, MSc for 2 years, and PhD for 5 years.
B.Tech admissions are based on JEE Main 2026 scores, with the application process expected to begin in November 2025 and exams in February 2026. For M.Sc. admissions, the IIT JAM 2026 registration is likely to start in September 2025, with the exam on February 1, 2026. GATE 2026 registrations for M.Tech programs are expected from August 2025, with the exam scheduled for February 2026. NIT Meghalaya admission 2025 is ongoing for various courses. For BTech admission, JEE Main 2025 has already been conducted and JoSAA counselling is currently ongoing, round 1 and 2 have already been conducted and round 3 results are to be declared on July 4, 2025. NIT Meghalaya fee ranges between 30,000 to 5,00,000 varying with different courses.

NIT Meghalaya Courses and Admission 2025
NIT Meghalaya charges an application fee of INR 2000/- for General/OBC category students and INR 1000/- for Sc/ST candidates for M.Sc courses. The fees need to be paid online through the SBI payment link before starting with the application process.
An application fee of INR 500/- for general /OBC and INR 250/- for SC/ST candidates must be paid online through the SBI link for Ph.D. programs.

- Students should pass the 10+2 standard from a recognized board/university with a minimum of 75 % marks to qualify for the JEE Mains exams.

- The eligible candidates should have a valid GATE score followed by CCMT counselling.

NIT Meghalaya Campus Facilities and Infrastructure
The campus life is good. Apart from the academic curriculum, students can participate in various events organized by the different clubs. The college also conducts several sports events. The institute organizes workshops where students can participate and learn new technologies to enhance their skills. A good gender ratio is maintained in college admissions. However, the students face a bit of constraint because of the temporary campus.
The infrastructure at the National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya, is good. The NIT Meghalaya is built on 300 acres of land. The place is pollution-free and green, with many on-campus facilities. The classrooms are good, and the labs are well equipped with all the necessary equipment. The hostels are good with good quality food. The entire campus, as well as the hostels, is well connected through wifi. A 24 hrs medical service is also provided. There are several sports and game clubs where students participate actively.
The campus has state-of-the-art facilities for conducting industry interviews smoothly. It has a well-furnished hall with 100 for pre-placement talks called Rendezvous, a well-furnished GD room to hold discussions with a crew of 12 persons and 3 moderators called Oval, and 3 interview rooms. The hall also has 30 computers with client servers to help conduct online tests and video conferencing with industrial people for pre-placement talks so that the students can better understand the actual situations.
National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya Facilities
The NIT Meghalaya campus has an extensive library with over 13,000 books in various disciplines of Arts, Science, Humanities, Engineering, and Technology. Any institute member, be it students, faculty, or staff members, can avail of these books at any time. The institute also has a collection of journals and other materials that they can refer to for academic and research purposes.
The students who get admitted to this institute get hostel facilities. There are seven boys' hostels and two girls' hostels. The hostels are well connected through Wi-Fi and a gymnasium for the students. The mess food is good and hygienic and is well maintained.
The institute also has a computer centre that has over 200 high-power machines with the latest technologies and eight servers so that the students can get the maximum benefits through online information.

NIT Meghalaya Scholarships
The NIT Meghalaya scholarships are offered to eligible and needy candidates. Students can avail of the following scholarships as listed below

- Merit scholarships are also given to B.Tech students where a scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students based on the CGPA obtained in the last semester
- A merit-cum-means scholarship is given to a B. Tech student who belongs to the non-creamy layer and obtains a CGPA of 7.0 or above, and their parent's income is not more than 4.5 lakhs per annum. A scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students.
