Wildlife Institute of India - WII
Wildlife Institute of India (WII), offers Master's in Wildlife Science course. WII was established in 1982, Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers training program, academic courses and advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues. The Institute's idyllic campus that has been carefully developed to create state of the art infrastructure encourages scholarly work. The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) celebrated World Environment day on 5th June, 2015 in its campus at Dehradun with great enthusiasm. It was organised by the newly established UNESCO Category 2 Centre on World Natural Heritage Management and Training for Asia and the Pacific Region, the only centre of its kind in the World, intended specifically for Natural World Heritage Sites. Nearly 180 members participated which included 100 students from Graphic Era University, Dehradun and faculty and researchers from WII. The event started with an introductory address by Dr. Malvika Onial, Scientist WII who exhorted the students to inculcate the habit of sustainable use. An interesting Philately Exhibition related to biodiversity was presented by Mr. J. D. Pati, IFS. This was followed by the main event of the day, the Extempore Contest, with thought-provoking topics on environmental issues. There was active participation by the students of Graphic Era University. The First Prize was won by Vijeta Negi and the Second Prize went to Meenal Lohani, both B.Tech students of the Department of Biotechnology, Graphic Era University. The prizes included best-selling books on nature and wildlife by renowned writers like Ruskin Bond and Jim Corbett. Another select group of students represented their creative skills by performing other activities including a ‘Clean Dehradun’ campaign, work of ISERT (International Youth Society of Ecofriendly and Renewable Technology), a popular song and music rendition as well as an environment related poem recitation. All participants were awarded a certificate of participation as a token of appreciation.

Wildlife Institute of India Placements
Wildlife Institute of India (WII) provides placement assistance to all its students. The dedicated placement cell regularly conducts grooming sessions of the students in areas like soft skills, interview facing skills, behavioral skills hereby making them industry-fit. In the recent years the college has witnessed some well known recruitment companies walking-in and being invited for campus placements.
Library and Documentation Centre was established in line with WII’s mission as multidisciplinary information and learning resource centre on biodiversity conservation and management.The L&DC holds over 25,958 books, 20,600 newspaper clippings, 7,350 maps/toposheets and more than 6,225 bound volumes of old and rare. The centre provides online access to all relevant journals and archives. The Library & Documentation Centre (L&DC) has the following objectives. To acquire, organize and disseminate all relevant world wide literature on biodiversity conservation and related fields. To serve the user readership through normal and special library & information services, like circulation, reference, photocopy, documentation, etc. To establish and maintain links with other national information systems in India and other countries to ensure free flow of information at national and international levels. To serve as a training center for information personnel and users. To provide the above services to: (a) WII, (b) Protected areas all over the country, (c) Institutions engaged in nature conservation research in the country & abroad, (d) Universities & Colleges, (e) Individual scholars working in related areas, NGOs, etc., To bring out periodic publications on the following: (a) Current content of periodicals, (b) Research in progress, (c) List of unpublished research literature, covering dissertations, thesis etc., (d) Compilation of bibliographies, and (e) Compilation of abstracts.
