Central University of Himachal Pradesh was established under the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 25 of 2009) enacted by the Parliament. Funded and regulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the university became functional with the assumption of charge by the first Vice-Chancellor. CU Himachal has been accredited with B++ by NAAC. It achieved a CGPA of 2.78 on a seven-point scale.
The university recognises itself as a ‘Research University’ with greater emphasis on the creation of knowledge. CU Himachal offers all necessary facilities like a library, laboratories, placement cell, healthcare, and so on. Currently, there are two distinct CUHP campuses located in Dharamshala and Dehra, both in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh.
