Madras University M.A Admissions 2020 - Eligibility Criteria (Entrance Test Based Specializations)

The eligibility criteria for M.A admissions at Madras University has been mentioned below according to the specializations. Only those M. A specializations have been discussed for which an entrance examination is conducted by the University of Madras -

Tamil Studies

Candidates B.A/B.Litt. with Tamil as the main branch of Study are eligible to apply

Tamil Literature & Culture

  • Applicants with B.A./B.Litt. with Tamil as the main branch of Study OR

  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with Tamil under Part-I

Journalism & Communication

  • Applicants with a B.A degree in any specialization are eligible

  • Candidates from a Media background and having an experience of more than 3 years will be preferred

Historical Studies

The applicants must hold a Bachelors degree from Madras University (or equivalent) in any subject

English

  • Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in English OR

  • Applicants with a B.A/B.Sc degree but have studied English as Part - II

Madras University M.A Application Process

This section takes a look at the Madras University M.A application process in a detailed manner. The application process for M.A admissions at Madras University is an online process. The University of Madras M.A application process can be summed up in the following steps -

Step 1 - Go to the official website of Madras University

Interested applicants can click on the following link - Direct Link to Register which will take them to the Madras University’s official sites’ home page

Step 2 - Fill in the details

This is the most important step in the entire Madras University M.A application process. In this step, the applicants have to provide all their basic personal information such as their name, address, email address, contact number, details of their parents/guardians etc

Step 3- Upload Documents

In this step, the applicants have to upload all their relevant documents to substantiate their claims regarding their qualification, category from which they belong to etc. Also, the applicants have to upload their signature and recent photograph as per the specifics mentioned on the form

Step 4 - Submission of Application Fee

In this step, the applicants have to deposit the Madras University M.A application fee which is INR 300/- via SBI collect. The applicants also have to pay an additional 18% GST amount to the existing Madras University M.A admission application form fee, i.e Rs 54/-. Thus, the total amount which the applicants have to pay as admission application fee in INR 354/-. After paying the application fee, the candidates have to note down the transaction ID for future reference

Step 5 - Final Submission of Application Form

In this last step of the application process, the applicants have to go through the entire application form to see for any kind of mistake that might have crept in the application form. Having checked everything, the applicants have to click in the “Submit” button to apply for M.A admissions at Madras University. The applicants must not forget to save a copy of the submitted application form for their future use or reference
