Cotton College Campus

The present day College has an infrastructure built on a sprawling campus covering an area of about 34 acres in Panbazar locality and about 6.4 acres in Rupnagar locality (second campus) of the city of Guwahati. The facilities include a modern library well stocked with books, journals as well as rare manuscripts and with UGC INFLIBNET-NLIST e-journal browsing facility; well equipped laboratories in different academic departments; a Central Instrumentation Centre; a full fledged Department of Computer Science & IT; a well equipped Centre for Mass Communication & Journalism (named as Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Mass Communication & Journalism), a vibrant Placement Cell, a dynamic Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), a Foreign Language Programme Unit and a state of the art Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) Center. In addition to these facilities, the College also has a hospital, a Career & Counseling Cell, a Peace Station, a Guest House, separate hostels for girls and boys, quarters for faculty and office staff, an Indoor Stadium with a modern gymnasium, a canteen, a coffee house and a State Bank of India ATM. All the Academic Departments, Centers and the College office are connected with round the clock internet connectivity. In the year 2003, an ‘Internal Quality Assurance Cell’ was established to look after the internal quality of the institution for continuous assessment of academic excellence.

Cotton College Hostel & Fees Structure

The College has three Girls’ Hostels and seven Boys’ Hostels. These are all situated within and around the College campus. Hostel seats are allotted at the time of admission on the basis of merit. Conduct in the hostel is governed by the ‘Cotton College Hostel Rules’, copies of which are available in the College Office free of charge. Hostels remain closed during Summer and Puja Vacations. Students of both Under-Graduate and Post- Graduate classes are allowed to stay in the Hostel for one session only.

Students Activities & Clubs

Photography Club -

Cotton College has always believed in the all round development in young people. Whereas academic excellence is always a priority for all institutions of education, this college believes in providing ample scope for the development of other talents in young people. This is why it is always encouraged all student centric initiatives aimed at promoting extracurricular development in all Cottonians.

Founded on the 25th of November, 2013 by Mrinmoy Buragohain, then an undergraduate student in the department of Geology , the Cotton College Photography Club(CCPC) was started as a Facebook page to showcase artistic photographs taken by Cottonians. It organized its first exhibition, entitled Pixels and Paints, on the 29thMarch, 2014, in the T. AO Indoor Stadium. It was a resounding success and Pixels and Paints has since gone on to become an annual event. It subsequently went on to participate in ‘Metropolis’, an annual event sponsored by the department of Tourism, Govt .of Assam. CCPC is totally a student initiative and aims to provide a plateform for all Cottonians who are interested in Photography, the fine arts or even music. 


NSS Club -

NSS is functioning with a strength of 100 volunteers since 1982 in Cotton College.


NCC Club -

Scouts and guides activity has been introduced in Cotton College form the session (2002-03) in the wake of state Government’s decision to make it compulsory for all educational institutions in the state. The Cotton College Ranger Team” is actively engaged in various community services.
