Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) is a constituent college affiliated to University of Delhi is a premier institution of higher learning. This co-educational institution is partially financed by the Govt. Of NCT, Delhi. Erstwhile G.D Salwan college, it was established in 1987 under the aegis of Delhi Administration.
The institution is situated in a prime location of Netaji Nagar surrounded by prominent residential societies and commercial ventures. The college provides higher education i.e Bachelor’s degree in various streams of Arts and Commerce. The duration for each undergraduate course in DCAC is three years. The college provides admission to over 2500 students under its various Undergraduate Programmes. The college presently operates from a building owned by the Department of Higher Education, GNCTD.
Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, University of Delhi, is situated in Netaji Nagar, Block E, New Delhi 110023 and is well connected by Delhi Metro, two of the nearest metro stations being INA and AIIMS. DCAC, New Delhi has members of both teaching and non-teaching staff functioning under the motto-EXPLORE, RESEARCH and ACHIEVE. The entire team is dedicated to providing excellence in the field of education and others. The college comprises of a State of Art Media Lab and Multipurpose Hall.
The placement cell has strived continuously to help students secure excellent job opportunities accompanied by handsome packages in leading Multinational Corporations. The college added another feather in its cap when it became the first college to introduce a three year Honors Program in Journalism in the year 1989.
DCAC campus is spread across over a vast area of 5 acres out of which 2.5 acres is built up area. The college is also known to provide various self-financed courses in collaboration with various renowned organizations like ILLL, NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), etc. DCAC New Delhi students are bound to fulfil certain social responsibilities like educating underprivileged students from the vicinity. Project “TANZEAL” is one such initiative undertaken by the college and its students.
DCAC, New Delhi boasts of alumni like Mr. Rahul Verma, Social Worker, and activist and founder of UDAY FOUNDATION, Mr. Rahul Kanwal, Senior Journalist, TV TODAY NETWORK, Ms. Rekha Rana, Bollywood actress, and Theatre Artist, Mr. Gursimran Khamba, AIB Comedian, etc to name a few.
According to ALL INDIA SURVEY conducted by INDIA TODAY and NELSON COMPANY that provides data for best Best Colleges all over India, DCAC, New Delhi ranks 30 in quality of education in Commerce stream, 32 in Arts stream and 8 among top 10 in Mass Communication colleges. The college featured in number 8 in a list of top 10 colleges in the University of Delhi released by plassmania.com, another independent web portal, in 2016.
