NIT Sikkim Campus Facilities: Hostel Fees, Infrastructure, Address

NIT Sikkim is located in Ravangla, South Sikkim. NIT Sikkim provides its students with great infrastructure facility including sufficient classrooms, auditoriums, computer labs, central library as well as hostels and gymnasium. It has highly equipped and advanced computer labs, big and highly ventilated group discussion rooms, big interview rooms, 24*7 Wifi and electricity backup, rooms with Lan/Wi-Fi connectivity and audio-visual aids such as laptops and projectors. 

Despite it being a temporary campus, the institute has residential facilities for all of its students. NIT Sikkim has ten boys’ hostel out of which six are within the campus while the rest four are outside. First-year girls are kept in a separate hostel from seniors to avoid ragging. The breath-taking view of snowy Himalayan peaks, Mt. Narshinga and Mt. Kanchenjunga can be seen from these hostels. For indoor sports, the institute provides facilities for table tennis, has a badminton court, carom board and chessboards. For outdoor sports, NIT Sikkim has well-maintained fields where students can play football, volleyball, kho-kho, and cricket. The college provides 24*7 medical facility to its students. It also provides nursing and ambulance facility to cater to the needs of students. It also provides its students with transport facility. 

The campus life of NIT Sikkim students is very active. The college has a number of clubs that promote cultural and extra-curricular activities. Some of the clubs are:

• Literary Club
• Abhiyantran

UDGAM is the annual fest of NIT Sikkim. The fest is one of the biggest annual cultural extravaganzas of the institute. The fest is the culmination of thoughts and words, sound and lights, dances, dramas and music and arts. 

The institute has residential facilities for all students, even though the institute is running on temporary campus. Both boys and girls have been provided separate accommodation facility in different hostels. There are three hostels for girl students and Eleven hostels for boys students within the campus. Since the Institute is running on a small temporary campus and students’ strength is increasing every year, two new hostels have been hired on rent near the campus. Moreover, keeping in view on further requirement, construction of two new hostels are going on within the campus, having a capacity of about 240 students. Also, the newly admitted 1 st year students are kept in separate hostels away from senior students to avoid ragging. Generally, four students share an apartment consisting of two rooms, attached toilet (having geysers), and a balcony. The buildings are airy, and receive enough sunlight with a beautiful view of snowy Himalayan peaks, like Mt. Narshinga and Mt. Kanchenjunga (World’s third highest peak).

Sports club of NIT Sikkim conducts various inter and intra-college events like cricket, badminton, kho-kho, chess, table-tennis etc. to pioneer spirit of teamwork among the students and aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants. The Sports Week and the Xplode Cup are the annual sports events which keep the ball rolling throughout the year. Sports and games are thoroughly promoted with the aim that the dynamic leaders of tomorrow need to be good sportsmen as well.
